Those RIP rounds are an attorney's dream. I advise everyone I run across to steer clear of those.

Not understanding. Isn't the intention of shooting, to kill? Am I supposed to just throw Nerf darts until they are annoyed enough that they leave?

It's the intent of inflicting "unnecessary or excessive damage". Shooting someone with a round named RIP that breaks into multiple projectiles is the attorney's wet dream. All he has to do is plant in the jury's mind that you couldn't wait to shoot someone and inflict as much damage as possible. You're done. Even in a self defense case, You're the bad guy. BTW, The intent of any shooting is to stop a life threatening incident, not to kill. If they die because of you defending yourself, that's a by product of their actions. If you carry a firearm for defense, You better start thinking like an attorney, or you could be in jail (even for defending yourself). Let's get back on topic now.

Makes no sense. Dead is dead. One bullet is one bullet. Is there a specific bat size I am limited to if I hit a burglar with a bat? (Rhetorical question not intended to be answered or to take the thread off track).

Never heard of a case where someone was sued because they didnít limit or restrict the lethality of their self defense. I remember someone threatening to sue someone for using a AR-15 on three home invaders with pistols because it wasnít fair but that never made it to court. These rounds would have basically the same effect as a shotgun with #7 shot but the shotgun would deliver about 60 more projectiles.

If it comes right down to it, shooting someone isn't exactly a friendly gesture anyway, so why would I want to use something that didn't blow them apart?

Simple... use what your local PD uses. Zombie KILLER Maxo DestrucKDO ammo is NOT going to look good in your case.

Please do some more research if you plan to arm yourself, or protect your home. Laws don't always protect common sense.

12 gauge 00 buckshot that puts 9 38 caliber holes in an intruder is OK for home self defense, but ONE bullet that fragments is too violent of a projectile? Most of those bullets are crap that don't work on anything except gel block demonstration targets to impress buyers anyway. They either pack the hollow tip with clothing material and don't expand in soft tissue, or they expand too quickly, break apart loose energy and don't penetrate effectively. There is a lot of engineering science and testing that goes into making an effective bullet, besides just making it LOOK scary on the box.

I thought a criteria for FBI Ammunition Protocol takes credit away if a bullet leaves the persons body but I don't see it here. I have a friend who use to do FBI demonstrations for an ammunition manufacturer. I will ask him.
