Default Sugar- Is it a drug or food?

An other thread got me thinking about this I contend that it is a drug. It is almost impossible to remove it from your diet unless you prepare everything your self. Even fast food hamburgers have sugar added. All breads have sugar. Tough job to limit it in your diet.

If it was a drug, you'd be adding it to your home prepared food.

But....I'm just here for the post count.

Oh, and no, I didn't click.

It is a very unhealthy additive that seems to be in far too many products we eat daily....

The long term accumulative effects are never good....

The food industry has known about the addictive qualities of sugar for a long time. That's why they all pour it into almost every kind of food we eat. The body doesn't really need that much sugar, but it knows what it likes, and it craves sugar. And if a person FEELS like they want brand Y more than brand X they will but it without really knowing why they chose one over the other. Brand X wants people to buy their product too, so they add sugar to attract buyers. People are attracted to sugar like mosquitoes are attracted to carbon dioxide. They aren't even aware of it, they just go for it. It's even in meat! "Boy that was a great burger, we'll have to come here again!" There is no other reason for it to be in so many food products other than the fact that the food industry wants to attract people to their products.

Lol. Itís a food. However most are to weak minded to control their urge for instant gratification. If one can use some willpower for a week or two the craving for it actually goes away. Most just find the taste to good to give up. A reason why most everyone is overweight.

Wrong on both counts. It's simply an energy source, a very tasty energy source. Mmmm, mmmm!!!

And like EVERYTHING, moderation is your friend, no matter what you are dealing with.

define sugar. if you mean the carbohydrate that is naturally in everything, it's not the same as the poison called cane sugar. Honey is a sugar and is actually good for normal folks (not so much for diabetics, but still better than cane sugar)

Sucrose (Fructose + Glucose) - i.e. ordinary table sugar.
Glucose.

Glucose in moderation is fine, but Fructose is "alcohol without the buzz" and should be avoided.
