I'm surprised 20Billion didn't buy him some more time.
Allen was diagnosed with Stage 1-A Hodgkin's lymphoma in 1982....
So I'd say it bought him a lot...YMMV

Amazing life.

I doubt any of us would have lasted as long as he did.

Thats what cracks me up here in shitsburgh. Local health system running commercials touting "we're stronger than cancer" "I won't let cancer beat me".....riiiiiiight. It's an insidious disease.

At least he seemed to do a lot of good with his life. 65 is too young these days...

He certainly did some good with his money but he was also anti-2nd Amendment and donated to anti-gun causes. He owned a beautiful piece of property, 2066 acres, outside Zion N.P., used it for a corporate retreat from what I've heard.

It must be terribly depressing to be lying in bed dying, knowing you're only 65 and you have $20 billion in the bank.

That fuckjob made every person that drives a car in King County pay over $100 per year in Regional Transit Authority (RTA) tax to pay for HIS SeaFuckFaceLosers stadium. He put a subsidy on the ballot to fund his team to get a new stadum and it was voted down. The gov stuck it to everyone regardless of it getting voted down. They built the stadium on mine and everyone else s dime. Free stadium tickets for every King County driver? Ha! No tears coming on here. **** him. He is the devil and will burn in hell.

NFL stadiums are a huge racket. Basically the rich having taxpayers pay for lavish stadiums, and threaten to move their team if citizens don't comply.

I think with this comment here we can see that EVERYONE has their good and bad....I'm sure he did lot of good with his money too....just as lot of bad things.

No one should be universally worshipped or hated.....everyone has good and bad sides.

ALso if you're that rich, you're almost basically obligated to do big time donation/philanthropy....they only get all those rewards because he donated a **** ton of money....well yeah everyone should do that if they have that much money. Still rip.

The voter approved RTA tax helps fund construction and operation of Sound Transit's regional mass transit services, not the stadium.

https://www.dol.wa.gov/vehicleregistration/rta.html

The stadium is owned by the Washington State Public Stadium Authority (PSA), not Paul Allen. His company, First and Goal Inc (FGI) maintains and operates the stadium and the adjoining event center.

A proposal was made to issue county bonds to fund a remodeling project of the aging Kingdome (the roof was actually falling in). The proposal failed, and as a result, Seahawks' owner Ken Behring threatened to sell or move the team. Paul Allen was approached by the county to purchase the Seahawks and keep the team in Seattle.

Paul Allen pledged to acquire the team if a new stadium could be built and said that the team could not be profitable until they left the Kingdome. He asked the state legislature to hold a special statewide referendum on a proposal to finance a new stadium. Allen also agreed to cover any cost overruns.

https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/...s-and-seattle/

The referendum passed, narrowly and Mr Allen contributed $130M (+ overruns) to the $430M project. The public funding package included new sports-related state lottery games, taxes on the facility's admissions and parking, sales tax credits and deferrals, and an eight-year extension of the 2% tax on hotel rooms in King County.

Free tickets for King County drivers, that's a new one. Got anything to prove that was ever an option for the whiners?

According to the PSA 's website, the event center alone contributes more than half a billion dollars to the region's economy. FGI receives 80% of the revenue from the exhibition center while the other twenty percent is allotted to a state education fund.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CenturyLink_Field

Oh, and his philanthropic contributions are in excess of $2B.
