I still can't believe that Toyota is producing their flagship sportscar with only 300hp.

Seriously, this isn't 1990

I've watched and waited for the unveiling of this car and I was severely disappointed. It will NEVER replace my old car. New sights on the mid engine c8.

My car sold again in Texas in the last year or so for over $100k, and still only has 14k miles on it. It is truly a unicorn.

Eh. The 2020 is quicker than the previous model, safer than the previous model and get better mpg than the previous model. Its quicker than the 460hp V8 Lexus RC which is much more expensive.

Your statements are valid, but the price point for a RWD import in this space with 335 hp is $35,000, not $55,000-60,000.

Lexus might have have their own website to see all that information, but I'm not sure.

Depends if your looking at stripped down models or loaded models. Your making the mistake of comparing $/hp.

RC350 F Sport stickered for $54,000-ish
370 Z Nismo $47,000-ish
Infinity Q60 $54-ish
Supra $55-ish
Infinity Q60 400hp $65K
RC F 465hp $75K
Camaro SS 1LE $46,000-ish

All of them are loaded 6 cylinders or 8 cylinder models with the Supra being quicker than all the 6 bangers and equal to the 460+hp 8's.

Default whats is worth more

The 1993 Toyota Supra with a V6 turbo is worth five times as much as my 39,000.00 vette when new (93). Though the Toyota was not as fast as my 93 build quality far exceeds the Corvette. The new Supra looks like more bang for the buck and will just have to drive one to compare! But if it is any thing like my wifes Lexus it is my next sports car!

Not my 86,,,, 3.6L LFX GM V6,, stock 325 hp and the 86 is 2750 lbs. This is what should be in the 86 from the start,,new Supra should have 450+.

Yep value is high because a modded Supra would walk on a C4, and that's why it sold so well, there was a waiting list back then.

The new Supra is a major embarrassment for Toyota. They completely sold out... It is an underpowered BMW Z4 dressed up as a Supra, and nothing more.

As for the argument about why the MK4 Supra is worth so much now: The main thing is supply and demand, it had limited production because it sold poorly. And the reason why it sold poorly was because of the high initial price, and somewhat daring exterior styling at the time.
No doubt that the MK4 supra is extremely mod friendly and overbuilt from the factory, but you could say that about any C6 corvette too.

I know, I was teasing Wallywest and this post was from the end of our argument, citing actual sales numbers did nothing to convince him. He'd be here still arguing his point but he self banned himself for 2019.

The source where I got my first numbers.

http://carsalesbase.com/us-car-sales.../toyota-supra/

Directly from the MKIV enthusiast site;

http://mkiv.com/specifications/sales...ail_sales.html

The MKIV site actually has the sales less than I calculated from the first site, only 11,239 units for the TOTAL production over the MKIV generation.

So you're saying the demand was crazy but yet they could only sell just over 2500 in the last 3 years?

So Toyota could have sold more in the US market if they bothered to make them?

WRONG. They made them for FOUR years after they stopped shipping to the US. Either you are just trolling now or dense.

This has got to be one of the weakest arguments I've seen this year, you have no data to back up your claims.

/\I know, I saw the argument. The MK4 Supra was definitely not in high demand. It is now, but not when it was new.

They were running 13's with 200hp stock? So was the RX7? I know it was light but I think both it and the NSX, with well under 300hp, struggled to get in the 13's.

As a GT? The C4 wasn't designed or marketed as a grand tourer.

Honestly? Even though the new Supra is pretty lame, at least it is a sporty CAR and not a crossover or SUV.

Nice to have some options left...

Some magazines got sub 5 sec 0-60 times and low 13 second qtr's for the RX-7 and the Supra.
