Whaddaya know? The law here in PA changed recently. We can buy firecrackers and bottle rockets and such. But no M-80's or cherry bombs, the big stuff is still verboten.

Fireworks can still be bought in Missouri, but there may be restrictions on when during the year they are available.

Same here, but we live in the desert so it makes sense. Doesn't stop a lot of people from going to the injun reservation though. Road my bike home from work a couple years ago on the 4th. Felt like I was riding through a war zone.

Yeah. My brother and I had just launched the trash with an M-80 can and had just lit up the fuse for a second launch. Our old man came running out (very angry because we had woke him up) just in time to see the bottom get blown out of his trash can. It sailed right by his head. We hid in the woods until supper time. A whooping is ALWAYS easier if you can delay it until your old man cools off.

A buddy of mine had an uncle that liked to make his own homemade "fireworks".

His uncle passed maybe ten years ago and the family went to clean out the house and found a mostly full 55 gallon drum of some kind of chemical.
The didn't know what to do with it, so they called the police.

Turns out the laws had changed long ago and the only entity in the state allowed to possess that material was University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

They evacuated the area when it was removed.

I remember back in the 90's me and my brother used to get "Overlord in the Sky" which was a small mortar that sent up just a single report. But it was a big f'n report. We jammed one upside down between the slates of the plank going down to the dock on the lake where we lived. At that location the plank was sitting on a big rock outcropping. We lit that thing off and it lifted the steel and wood plank into the air, several hundred pounds worth. Then one year we went looking for them and couldn't find them so we asked a worker at "Joe's fireworks" about them. She said they have them but aren't allowed to sell them anymore bummer.

OP needs to take a look at where he lives then he wouldn't have to ask if "normal" behavior is still allowed in the FREE states.

I didn't want to hijack your "what can you buy" thread so I posted a "Drone over fireworks over pool" separately with what you can buy here in WA state. I guess there's a gram limit per shell, or some limit, but you can still get some decent stuff as evidenced by the video.

Sure they do, you just have to know where to get them (illegally) I have two good friends that could get you any thing firework wise. Blockbusters and M-80's especially. And these are the real deal.

Are these the real M-80's or the craptastic noise poppers that have also share the Cherry Bomb label?

They only resemble the old M-80....no real Cherry Bombs anymore either.

in NJ you can do fireworks now and sparklers before they were illegal. M80's, cherry bombs, block busters are still illegal. I'm not sure about bottle rockets. I know i can get them just not sure it's legal.

Here in Commyfornia we have “safe and sane” fireworks. Which means that they do not fly or explode. Of course that does not stop people from buying real fireworks online or having friends in the free states from shipping them here.

If you are actually caught with real fireworks, the punishment is up to 50K and up to a year in jail. I'm guessing that some people get caught each year, but despite the zero tolerance claims there doesn't seem to be a ton of enforcement.

The M-80's I remember had the fuse coming out the middle, not the end.

There used to be a guy the next county over who made all sorts of fireworks - quarter sticks, M-80's, aerial stuff, you name it. He got busted, and was saying he just wanted to make people happy and let them enjoy fireworks.

A while after that, he was making some goodies in the trunk of his car, which was always loaded with chemicals and tubes and stuff. Girl I worked with knew him, and said he always had a cigarette going. The explosion was heard literally miles away, it destroyed the house he was parked in front of. When the first emergency personnel arrived, there was STILL paper and fragments coming down in the air. He took a friend with him when it happened. Talk about going out with a bang.....
