I just read in the newspaper that if you dial *77......and hear 3 beeps any number that calls you and hides their number will be blocked.
I called Verizon to confirm this and to make sure there was no charge for it ....and they said it is a free service.
Just passing this information on.....paper also said other carriers offer this....just check to see if there is a charge first

Unfortunately, even if this works its likely predicated on the Caller ID which is typically spoofed now anyway. I rarely see junk calls from the same caller ID over and over, but if you do in your area, it's worth a shot!

Making CFOT Great Again

I wish there was a service I could enable that would block anyone calling from a spoofed phone number. That would eliminate 90% of the annoyance calls I get.

Happened to us on our landline twice.

I'm going to run for President. The only platform I would need is that I would make all robo calls illegal. First offense punishable to the point that there would be no second offense.

I don't answer any calls that have this match up, if it's a legitimate call they'll leave a message.

I've noticed that "MOST" unwanted calls come from the same area code and prefix as my phone number. For example... personal number of (555)123-xxxx and the scammers caller ID will show (555)123-yyyy.

is this for cell phones or landlines or both??
I look at the caller ID, and if appropriate I answer "better things to do". usually there is no answer. but sometimes the caller says "better things to do??" and I say "yeah, better things to do than to talk to you." then I ask them if they do business with people who hide from them. "Huh??" then I explain that they are hiding their identity from me, "why would I do business with such a person?" they hang up.

This 'No Neighbor' app will block all of them except the ones in your contact list (if you allow it to see your contact list.)
To be more clear it sends them to voicemail without the phone ringing. But I haven't had any voice mails show up yet.
I installed the app about 2 weeks ago and the number of robo calls has been severely lowered. I actually don't remember getting one since I installed the app.

I've been running a blocking app on Android for a year or so, if not in my contacts it sends the call to voicemail. So many scammers spoofing numbers that most "seem to originate" from my area. Been a huge number coming from Wilmington area though the last couple of years.
Some days I will see it blocked a dozen or more a week, down from a dozen a day.
