I always donate as much as I can to middle class family’s children’s sports fundraisers.

People got a product, and paid a price. They knew. That's ok by me. The begging is pathetic.
And OP - Proper Preparation prevents Poor Performance - you admit you dropped the ball on funding this thing -
maybe it's SNOWING where you are and GET THOSE boys shoveling to pay their own way!
Wasn't my call on when we got accepted on going, that happened last week. Not going through the process if we weren't accepted.

And it's raining.. been raining for weeks here. We have a tournament tomorrow which may be cancelled like last weekend.

local church, local market hang signs requesting odd jobs for kids to earn their way to go. I would pay for that. I don't agree with simple handouts. when I played we had to work to pay for everything.

Both of my boys did the Cooperstown baseball tournaments. Fundraising is never fun an I feel that all this organized sports is getting out of control. Here’s a couple of ideas though.

1) Run a bracket pool for March madness. You missed the Super Bowl box pool.

2) selling candy as mentioned before

3) car washes

4) if you have a local Applebee’s they’re pretty big on this. They’ll do breakfasts where the kids would serve and the monies would go to the team. If you don’t have an Applebee’s try a local restaurant . A 50/50 raffle works great here.

5) sporting goods stores will sometimes have a day where a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the team.

6) canning and hustling

7) donations from stores creating gift baskets. Raffle them off.

8) 5k raffle. Sell 200 tickets for 50 bucks each. Net 5k for the team. Sounds easy but it’s not. 12 kids so each kid has to find 17 people.

9) golf outing. Lot of work but then you can combine many of the above 50/50, silent auction, selling mulligans etc.

Good Luck!

Pretty much my thought - builds character ... why do you think all these young people find socialism so attractive ... all the FREE stuff they got when they were growing up.

Its sanctioned discrimination. Racial and social. Rich white people got butt hurt because poor kids were beating out their own kids. And that's what 'travel leagues' are realty about. F them. We had a choice of paying cash or selling raffle tickets to play. I didn't have the $15 so it was selling raffle tickets door to door for me.

Glad that stuff is behind me, but it was fun, even as a parent.
