The losers. The kids who had nothing going for them and no expectations of others. I myself was a nerd, but didn't care to hang out with other nerds. So I hung with the losers where everyone accepted one another. Most were smokers, some, stoners.

I wasn't about to "conform" to some group's rules or expectations of how to dress, act, talk.

Ya know, I still have guys from high school from that group warmly greet me and talk about the good times we had, my old GTO, drinking beer.

Maybe we weren't such losers after all.

Didn't have junior highs when I was in school. Was in the varsity band my first 2 years of high school. Played the trumpet and got to ride the high school's provided bus to all of the out-of-town high school football games. Played a couple of concerts a year those 2 years. So, fairly close to the sports programs.

Moved to another town and a different school for my last 2 years of high school. Slight association with other students who took some slightly advanced courses, like Latin and Advanced Calculus. School didn't have yearbooks because a teacher with plenty of influence was not put in charge of it managed to get the yearbook program canceled. Had a Speech class and was in 2 different plays that they put on.

Never in any cliques and it made it difficult. I had friends in every category and hated when one group bullied another because it usually involved two people I was friends with.

I was in wrestling for as few years, so jock. I smoked but the coach didn't know it. Also part of the hotrod/muscle car group and the occasional stoner group. But I always felt like a nerd.

I think some folks here must have been bullied a lot growing up and act like they are still in junior high.

No! I was always focused on surviving my home life, like her.

That is very true! I think they were the least judgmental of any group.

Joyfully moved about seemlessly and effortlessly between them all . A great if not the best of many joyous periods enjoyed in my total experience.

I still see apx 25- 30 chums from 1969-72 with regularity. Only 3 mopre years until # 50 reunion . It still seems like yesterday ....what a blast.
