Eh, as a long-retired buddy told me years ago: An accountant is the only person you will do business with who knows if you can afford him or not.

$375 this year, only because estate inheritance items made it more complicated than prior years. Usually around $300-350, even with dual state earnings (work is based on OH, but live in TN).

Most years about $400 personal and $650 business. $925 for 2018 due to business property sale which required more forms and work. He saved me over $50K so well worth it.

For a CA & fed e-filed return with a couple W2's I charge $285. Additional forms & schedules increase the fee.
If I charged myself to do my own return it would be $530. Plus $900 for my corp return & $925 for the trust return.

My CPA (H&R Block Deluxe On-Line) is free. One of my financial institutions picks up the $49.95 tab every year.

K1s for PTPs are the worst. Why can't they be made legible so a mere mortal can translate the gobbledygook into the right fields on the 1040? They are undoubtedly the most obtuse form EVAR!

$300 for personnel and $450 for my property LLC.

The 1st guy I had for a few years would "invent" new ways for me to pay more taxes and cost me a lot more money! My current tax CPA looks for ways to save on taxes!

We paid $1375 for our personal taxes and accounting for my wife's college tuition charity. We've been using the same guy for the past 18 years.
