Default Talk me into or out of buying this truck.

I'm looking for another company truck for myself. I sortof follow Ramsy advice on vehicles (except of course for bikes, boats, and vettes) and try to keep 8 to 10 years and buy 2 year old vehicles. My 2010 chevy ltz truck now has a leveling kit and 31s with 165,000 miles. But now I am getting the itch for a new used one. I saw this one 6inch lift and 35s the other day and I love it. But I got some questions. Is has the 6.2 and supposedly takes premium. I hate buying premium. Also my boat and trailer are probably under 5k lbs so do I really need a 6.2 over the 5.3? Also how does a chevy with a 6 inch lift and 35's ride? Also is it a decent deal just to go look at? Or do you think I can get to 200k in my truck without any problems and go on more vacations?

For me, 200k miles is my benchmark. At that point they are still worth a few bucks, but getting tired. They are on their third or fourth oil change, and likely ready for another one. They likely need front end work soon, and suspension work. for me, that is time to get another one. you are close, but we don't know your finances or your current truck condition. I would already have a new one were I you.

I had an '06 GMC with the 5.3 and it's a reasonably stout motor. I don't know where you live, but if you don't have a lot of mountains, I don't think you would have a problem with the 5.3.

I had an 08 with the 5.3 and 35's, no fkn way would I ever consider one again, gutless engine. Stick with the 6.2 or don't even bother getting something newer. The ride depends on the lift, some ride better than others. I think I had a skyjacker 6" with my last one and it rode fine. You could probably get to 200k with that 5.3, they are pretty decent engines but suck when you lift and throw on bigger tires. You should probably regear too, a lot of folks just slap a lift on with bigger tires and don't bother with regearing, that can make a big difference.

I'm not a fan of Chevy trucks, they ride like lumbering behemoths. I do like Chevy drivetrains, but it doesn't make up for the crappy truck.

That truck isn't bad but I would have put 17/18's with more sidewall. It almost looks like a low profile tire with those 35's, would look a lot better with more sidewall if you're going to do any wheeling in it.

As long as your trans still shifts fine, there is still a lot of life left in that 5.3. Can go 250k easily. Which, at your mileage accrual rate, would be another 4+ yrs of driving for you.

Does Dave Ramsey recommend lifts and wheels and tirea that kill fuel economy?

You need 6.2 for sure. 5.3 is weak and a POS.

none of these comments add constructively into the conversation/recommendation for Bill to buy the new truck. Ya'll don't understand future entertainment value much.
