Default Lawsuit against gun maker can proceed / Sandy Hook

Connecticut’s Supreme Court ruled Thursday that the manufacturer of the Bushmaster AR-15 rifle can be sued and potentially held liable in connection with the 2012 mass murder at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.

Insanity... no legal basis for the ruling, but why not base it on ideology and feelings, what BS.

Where exactly would lawsuits ever end if this one was successful? Could I then sue GM if my dog got hit by a kid speeding in a Camaro, since they market it as a fast sports car?

Nope, can't sue the members. But you can sue the maker of the forum software.

This will set a dangerous precedent. Manufacturers shouldnt be held liable for the end use of their products. If we are to do that, where does it end? A Husqavarna chainsaw was used to drop a tree limb (really it more or less bounced into the fence) on a shared property line fence a couple years ago. Instead of the neighbor and I fixing the fence, should we have sued Husky?

My engine blew up because of a bad tune; can I sue Shell?

False

His daughter and Porsche settled out of court. Now, take note and read this carefully: Porsche was sued not because the car was fast or uncontrollable or anything like that: Porsche was sued because the seat belt wouldn't release and Paul was unable to exit the vehicle. He survived the impact and was burned to death

The world is full of bottom feeder lawyers. Shouldn't be problem to find one that will try

He won't really want to take this to trial. Just bother you all enough that you will pay a couple Grand to make him go away.

I figure lawyer can make about $300k in fees and I'll get $1.50 out of the settlement.

Isn't that the way the courts are supposed to be used?

Legal stunt just to keep their fight against guns in the public eye. Keep hyping the ban and stirring more hate.

What I said was not false.

Now, take note and read carefully. Kristine Rodas, the widow of Roger Rodas, who was driving when the Carrera GT with Paul Walker in the passenger seat hit a tree at a high speed and burst into flames, sued Porsche. The suit alleged that design flaws caused her husband's death. The judge decided a roll cage or racing fuel cell would not have prevented Roger Rodas' death from blunt force trauma and found that Rodas had not presented sufficient evidence to prove that alleged design flaws with the Carrera GT caused her husband's death. The suit was dismissed.
