I'm not going to try to sell this one. Back to the lower horsepower and aero aids package. Maybe it will surprise us and yield some good racing. Ironically this track was actually pretty racey the past few years as it aged. Time will tell.

In California as per green thinking, arenít they speed restricted to 65 mph for the race?

One little adjustment to add: after the near chaos of the last couple of qualifying sessions, NASCAR will enforce the pit road speed limit during qualifying. In the past couple of weeks the pit road has looked like qualifying for the All Star race: drivers passing at random and through the pit boxes, etc. Qualifying is at 5:30 Eastern on FS1, might be interesting.

More rules, more boring times. Give them extra points for crashing on pit road and bonus points for fighting. For example one crew chief body slammed by other crew chief on the hood of the car worth 500 Brian France Bonus Points. Might be the only thing to keep this snooze fest alive.

Can't believe I don't care anymore but I don't.

On the pole, Austin Dillon with Harvick alongside because...all the cars failed to record a time in the final round. They all waited to go just a little too long and didn't make it back to the line in time. What a cluster...

What do you want to bet that next week Nascar will change the rule that once cars make a move they have to continue at increasing speed when leaving the pits for qualifying.

A few weeks back there was a thread expounding all the things we hate about NASCAR that makes it less fun etc. Rather than find that thread I'll just leave this here. It dawned on me that I miss the old days where a given team had the same sponsor, and the same paint scheme, for the whole season. I realize costs are so high now that teams split the race using multiple sponsors, and thus a totally different look one week to another (with exceptions). But I enjoyed being able to tune in mid-race and instantly know exactly who I was seeing.

Due to Climate Change, Recent California Wild Fires, Heavy Rains at the Speedway, and the subsequent LANDSLIDES.......

Perhaps this year's Little Old Lady from Pasadena Parade Laps will be more interesting on the Natural California surface

Hopefully Shrub gets his 200th overall NASCAR win (IIRC) but I'm thinking it'll be JJ on his home track.

Real nail biter so far. Keep up with the rule changing and the 1000 people that normally show will stop coming.

What are the odds that the 18 fails inspection?

Pretty good race for that track which is usually a real snooze. Good crowd too

Well the five wide salute to the fans before the start was cool. Otherwise I got nothing.

I thought it was a pretty boring race and certainly the Hendrick cars are performing marginally by comparison.

What happened to Earnhardt Junior doing the commentary ?
