Wife's company had a National meeting in FL one year. Spouse's were invited.
Sales rep from San Fran brought her husband. After every dinner, he would go around and clean up the plates, bag them and take them to his room, lobster, filet, etc.

I would never even think of doing that. But at a wedding I went to two months ago the catering company offered my and my friend two quart size bags of free bbq brisket and ribs and we took it. Wish I wouldn't have it gave me and my wife both the runs.

I went to 2 funerals in the past 2 weeks. Both at the same place. Both with a big reception afterward, and when I say loads of food, I mean loads. It was offered to anyone that if they'd like to take some with them, please do. I have no idea if anyone did or not in either case. I can say the food was spectacular... And believe me, that's unusual at any large public event I've been to. The leftovers from all these are taken to a local charity organization that feeds local needy folks. I have no idea if they use it all or not, it was a s'load of food.

I didn't read the entire link or see what the circumstances were. I agree, depending on the situation it probably is more funny than anything. But I can tell ya if it had happened at a gathering of my family, it would not have made the news. That's the truly pathetic part.

I had a client years ago that while we were editing some promos she asked if she could order some sushi for dinner.....I of course said sure just write down what you want and give it to the girl out front......around 1/2 hour later receptionist walks in with 4 bags of sushi I said holy crap....what did you order ? She looked at me and said.....oh I'm having a dinner party, this for my guests She got up and took the bags and said I'll come back tomorrow morning to see the promos.....have a good night
