I build my own AR's.. You watch the sales and pick up parts for future builds.
Ex - 1000 rounds of 5.56, and 10 Pmags for under $400, after rebate, shipped to my door.
There are lots of private sellers unloading their 5.56 ammo for around $250-$300 per thousand. They think the war is over, I guess. I have bought more than my share..

If you sign up for PSA newsletter you can get a completely assembled upper and lower on sale. Al you need to do is snap it together.

Lower - $179
Upper - $189

Sometimes you can even get free shipping.

Most FFl's charge $25 transfer fee. You may have to wait a few days after filling out form 4473. In Texas, if you have CC you can pick it up right away.

I did a few how to's and posted them on my website. AR15 Build link. You may want to peek at this before you buy.

I am no gunsmith by means. If I run into a problem I go to areal gunsmith and pay the price. Guns are nothing to mess with and good enough doesn't cut it!

AR10 or AR15?

Shot it yesterday...not an indoor gun. Went to the out door range but they apparently are closed on Tuesday. Went to a nearby indoor range which is way too small to shoot a gun like that.

Scope sat too low so ordered new rails to move it up a bit.

Yeah. They make risers in various heights. I Iike the 'see thru' types so that you can use iron or 'flip-up' sights if you have to.

Actually the bullet is more like 7.82 or 308. They are close enough that they are interchangeable. But, the commercial 308 cartidge is loaded a bit heavier than the 7.62 NATO round.

Rule #1 for AR10, make sure you extend the butt stock before firing after removing from case.

Took it to an outdoor range this afternoon, pulled it, got it all setup, SMACK right into my head.

Got it somewhat dialed in, I gotta wait for the risers for the scope to come tomorrow.

Ammo for it is expensive but you go through it about 1/4 the speed of other ammo. Just the reset time, your not pulling the trigger much because the gun moves so much.

Makes me want a 6.5 Creedmore. Supposed to be as much boom but .223 recoil.

Learned the bigger and smaller the gun the more the trigger matter. Wife got a XDS .45 and the trigger pull is too heavy and miles long.

I move the AR10 too much pulling the trigger.

Want to replace them both. The XDS will be her carry gun so want something much shorter and light, same with the AR10.

308 ammo... I use Military Surplus for initial sighting in. Then I switch to the commercial stuff for final check out.
I have 2 acres out in the country with some steel targets.
I think the 2 stage trigger will help with movement. Also, you need to learn breath control and trigger pull. That takes a few rounds down range to master.

My AR15 5.56 pistol.

With Faux suppressor...

My AR15 5.56 Carbine test bed.

Likely you don't want a super light trigger in a carry gun, especially a striker gun with no active safety. That is asking for issues.

Apples to apples, 6.5 Creedmore will have much more recoil than a .223. Not even close.
If you want to cut down recoil on the bigger rifle cartridges you can get a compensator, if you don't mind the increased blast ~90 degrees to the side.

Pretty interested in buying a DPMS Oracle GII Recon in .308 if I can find a good one locally, they want too much for it.
