When I deal with insurance companies, I just figure on paying 100% all the time. Saves me a bunch of disappointment.

Does the OP walk around all the time with a sign on his butt that says "Stick it right in here"?

Does anything good ever happen to you, SLO?

Just talk to your doctor on the code they are billing. I have had some doctors change the code to get stuff covered.

Good luck on your transition

I love how health insurance is so byzantine that you call the health insurance company, and they just tell you they have no idea how their own billing works. It's the most absurd thing I've ever heard of.

Imagine if everything worked like that. You go into a beer place and they have 87 different ways to price the same exact beer depending on how they feel. Or you get a new strut assembly on your car and its $300 for one person and $3,000 for the other with the same car and same parts, except they dont slide the bill over until the work is done.

I once asked to pay without insurance at a doctor's office. I said I just wanted to put it on the credit card and be done. They claimed they didnt even know how to bill without submitting it through my insurance.

I seriously think that health insurance is the biggest racket on Earth. There's virtually no transparency whatsoever, and the movers and shakers have their Cadillac health plans (typically thanks to Uncle Sam), so they dont give a flying monkey F. If ever there was a time RICO should be used...

The health insurance companies make the Gambino Family seem nearly honest by comparison.

many places don't do their own billing because of how complicated it can be, they use third party. third party vendors do multiple sites for multiple insurers. mistakes happen, but there are also a metric ton of different coverages, co pays etc.

I've dealt with crooked car dealers. Even they were mere amateurs compared to the health insurers.

I have a document sitting in front of me saying this procedure is 90% covered (out of network). It was really 35%. And I am powerless to fight it.

Even a car dealer struggles to triple the price when it's written down. Not these crooked bastards...

My health insurance is supposed to be some wonderful plan. It certainly should be for the *** raping I take on it. I've only really used it one time but I will say they paid everything and I don't recall a single item being questioned. I'm sure my day is coming when they'll bend me over. Each year I get a packet in the mail which describes all the coverages and I suppose it probably has all the nuances in there as well. It's roughly the size of War and Peace, So I've never read the thing. It comes on legal size paper printed both sides and it's every bit of a half inch thick. I suspect that's exactly what they are counting on.

They intentionally make it so complicated that not even Ramanujan would be able to figure it out.

If you start reading it the day you get it, you'll probably only be slightly confused regarding the billing practices by the time its outdated.

I love how I pay enough in taxes to buy a C6, but then get ***-creamed when I need a medical procedure for the first time in 20 years. Then some ghetto slugs, who spend their entire days eating Cheetos, smoking weed, drinking malt 40s, and playing Xbox get these services free of any charge whatsoever via Medicaid from my same specialist.

Yeah, that makes perfect sense. What a crock of ****.

Almost all of us here deal with the challenges our insurance companies make us endure. Its part of our lives. Yes, its complicated but we all figure it out and invest the time required to maximize our benefits.

If you think its so complicated or not worth your time then you are going to pay more than you need to. Your insurance challenges are no different than the rest of us.

Stop being such a ***** about everything! Look back at all of your whiny threads and question why you post about your little world. Grow a set and make things happen to your advantage instead of complaining about every otherwise normal life challenge.

Sheesh... You are pathetic. You constantly ask for advice here but take none. There is so much wisdom to be had on this forum but you are deaf to it all. Wake up dude.

It's like reading the miscellaneous ramblings of a whiny fat chick blog who complains about being fat. When someone suggests lock the fridge, stop stuffing Cheetos in your face and go walk around the block a million times, the response is "I can't because the city doesn't maintain the sidewalk properly."
