I was teen & twenties in the 60s & 70s which were a golden age to be young. So I've already lived through one outstanding era.

As for living in another age I'd go for being a District Officer in the 20s 30s, somewhere in the far East - India, Ceylon, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaya, Sarawak, Borneo - as this was when the British Empire was in its prime, and east Asia is a special world.

We were top dogs, and to serve in the far-flung dominions was the greatest adventure.

Half of me agrees with this. The other half wants to go back far enough to see the beautiful lands before humans had the chance to muck it all up.

Most times between the mid 1400's to Victorian times. At least my best job skills would be in higher demand then.

It would depend. Do I get to go back knowing what I know now? If not, I'll stay where I am.

I was thinking about totally being alive during a certain period but just being there for a few days opens up a lot of doors. There would be a lot more that I'd want to see. In the past and future.

You wouldn't have to travel too far. The earth is 4.5 billion years old. Most of the damage has been done in the last 100-150 years.

Maybe born in 1931 instead of 1941. Some elegance, class and style still around, be 24 when the 1955 cars started it all and maybe cash in when the Obama shitstorm started. All this with some money of course, not dead broke like we were.

All in all I think I have lived through the greatest years and am sorry to be seeing the decline happening now.

I'm thinking 60's-70's all the cool muscle cars are brand freak'n new, computers aren't all around, you could still make a decent living without a college degree and less BS to deal with. Today it's all just too much crap that we really don't f**k'n need. Internet is cool and all but it's been a 50/50 mix good bad for me.

Interesting question for thought.
Personally, I like indoor plumbing and electricity.

"Modern man" has a average life span near 85 years.
Life span in 500 BC was 30 years?

Being the Pharaoh of Egypt is a lot different than be a regular citizen.
Ditto being the King of England in the 1500s is a lot different than be a regular citizen.
Avoiding eras of famine, plague or war would be desirable.

I'd guess if this was a voting poll CFOT would vote Cave Man era just for the ability to meet women..haha.
Any way, interesting thought question.

I would not go back to anytime that didn't have modern medicine.

The plague
tuberculosis
common cold killed people back in certain times
Avg life span 30 years old ...hell no
Oh you have a head ache here is some cocaine and morphine mixture. Nothing bad will happen.....
oh you are sick let's place all these leeches on you

Only time I could relive is the 80's and 90's.

I thought maybe the 50's but to much racial tension...60's even worse. The 20's ehhh to much poverty and Gangster\Mob action.

If I could go back to just view then that is a different story

I would not go back to any time that didn't have personal computers, so ~1973 is about my cutoff.

Going forward, I would like to witness the heat death of the universe (or however it actually ends up).

Studies have shown that the reason the average life span was so low was not that people did not live almost as long as we do now but because the average included infant deaths which were an epidemic then. When you average an infant death, say 1 month old with the death of an 80-year-old, you get an average age of forty. Those who lived through infancy led a fairly long life.
