It's definitely a mod. Just an appearance mod, but a mod nonetheless.

Tell your friend that drinking and driving is bad.

Yes. I have. It's a pain in the *** if it works correctly. Here's how it works in FL.

Blow, suck, then hum into the device to start the car. 5 minutes later, gotta repeat the process. After that it's random between 15-60 minutes. You get 5 minutes to do the randoms or your car will go into shut down mode and you have have to get it towed to the place it was installed to get it unlocked. Oh, and they install a camera system to make sure you don't have somebody else blow into the device. It's uses a suction cup and falls off easily when the temps are high. "Not my fault you use **** like this that won't stay on. My job is to use it and not set offf the breathalyser. Yours is to install and maintain the damn thing."

Blow hot and you get a warning. Do it twice within (I think) an hour and it locks your car up. You then have to pay to get the device reset and most likely another month tagged onto how long you need to keep the device. Pizza, gum, toothpaste, mouthwash, and certain breads can register as alcohol. I came close twice because of the toothpaste.

Cost was $100.00 to install and then $120/mo to monitor. I had it installed on my 08 Z06 and they had never done that before. It got hooked up to some positive solenoid that was under the hood on the passenger side since the battery is in the trunk and they couldn't wire everything up on the driver side. I guess they wired it to a solenoid or something that shut down after the car was started so it took the device out of the equation until I shut the car down. The guy pulling the monitoring records saw how many times the car had been started and how many checks were done which was below average. He told me I'd have to leave it with him for a day to fix it. Bullshit. I called corporate for the company and explained that I have to get to work. Between the job and my band at the time, I was losing about $75+/hr and wanted to know who was going to cover that since they fucked up the install. After a few minutes the guy came back and said there was nothing wrong with the device. Come to find out, he was a contractor and they were having him fix it on his dime. Guess I got lucky.

The trick is to have your kid blow into it for you and then your car will start.

You might want to switch brands...

In California, if you're going to drink and drive, make sure you always carry a loaded gun in the car, because if you get pulled over you might as well just shoot yourself in the head. It's a lot simpler that way.

It's not fun... BTDT about 8 years ago, never again. Apparently now they have cameras incorporated so you can't have someone blow for you. I had to park way out back at work as I didn't want anyone to see me giving my truck a BJ to start it every day.

Most annoying thing ever. But they work. That horrible piece of **** made me never wanna think about doing it again. Before I turned it in I did play around with it and drank a couple beers and blew to see what it'd say.
