Default Had another interview today

This was similar to the one I went to a couple months ago. Engineering assistant for DOT. They gave me options to interview Tuesday, Wednesday or today. I chose today because this is my Friday and if I'm a little short on sleep today, it's not that big of a deal.

So that means they've been interviewing for the last two and a half days. They ask some general questions, the usual annoying interview questions. What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses? Blah, blah, blah. But at the end they asked three BASIC math questions. 1) how do you convert pounds to tons? 2) how do you calculate the area of a triangle? 3) what is 5% of 120,000. Basic, right?

Well, they tell me I'm the only one they've interviewed so far that got all three of those right. What in the **** are people learning these days? That's basic math, maybe elementary level stuff right there.

Anyway, they said I did well and I have a pretty good feeling about it, but we'll see. Seems like most of the interviews I go on lately the rejection letter beats me home.

Palms up

Never say what your weaknesses are. Focus on strengths and say you build off of those to strengthen any areas you find out that are week. Sometimes they'll want an example, but showing how you fixed a weak area is better than simply stating you have one.

Ya. I hate that question because I never know how to answer it. Reality is we all have weaknesses, whether we want to admit it or not. The trick is knowing how to address them. But I wonder if the interviewers want me to blow smoke up their ***. "Oh no. No weaknesses here. I don't make mistakes. I'm perfect."

That's the worst thing you can do. Best to show how you overcame a weakness. It shows initiative and willingness to learn.

Not sure how to answer that "what is your greatest weakness?" question.

I do know that "Blondes" is not the right answer, though.

Yeah, the only problem with being "perfect" is that the next question will be, " Then why are you interviewing for such a shitty job?"

And "likker and weed" probably isn't much better.

Last interview I had my palms were down, that's probably the reason I didn't get hired.

Hopefully yours goes slightly better.
