As it went down all those years ago, I still proudly hang the badge in his memory. As a reminder that life is too short, we are all destined to be two numbers on either side of a hyphen, to make the most of the hyphen and treasure every day.

No, its been years but as i recall he drove a rental towncar to Vegas and got turned around late at night...got going down a road that turned to sand...car got stuck. He had no signal, no one knew he was out there. He had some water and a note pad, pen. They say it looked like he burned parts of the car for warmth at night and to try and signal help. After a couple days he took what water he had left and set off for help. I think he sat down next to a tree to rest, and put the last entry in the journal..long since out of water he succumbed to exhaustion and dehydration. The only people who were aware of his presence i recall were a couple forum members...when he didnt check in they began investigating. They contacted his family and local police..it took time but they did find him. There was a big blow up on the forum when admin reset his password and accessed private messages in hopes of finding a clue to his whereabouts. It was a tense few days of prayer, heartbreaking when they announced he had been found.

We had a few sad cases over the years, one member went berserk and murdered his wife and then killed himself.

Welcome back Red-85-Z51! It's been a while -- we've missed your posts -- A few weeks ago we were reminiscing on some of the funniest posts here on CFOT and I resurrected your sketch! good times! Most of the same knuckleheads are still here......some not. I didn't remember the incident you posted, but I didn't become a member until 09'.

Wow. I don't remember that. When did this happen? Pretty hard to get turned around anywhere in Vegas. You can see the Stratosphere tower from anywhere in the valley, and at night you can see the Luxor light for dozens of miles.

I donít think it was a question of being able to see the lights of Las Vegas. He had driven far off the main road and gotten his vehicle stuck in the sand. He didnít have the water or strength to walk for help in the desert heat and died of dehydration I assume.
