Default New Jeep- What should I expect to pay?

Sold the wife's FJ Cruiser. She's got Jeep fever.

We're looking, new is fine, used but low miles would be great, too. In AZ, if we buy private party there's no sales tax. No problem buying out of state, I can travel to pick it up and drive it home. Will only buy in non-rust areas, tho. Prefer SW states.

Open to 2 or 4 door, V6 or the new 4 cyl turbo. Has to be auto trans.

Trim level doesn't matter.

What does CFOT think this example can be bought for? Any suggestions totally welcome.

Help us buy our next vehicle, please!

We're coming out of a Toyota, so fully understand the issues.

I've owned Jeeps for years, super comfortable doing any maintenance.

Most likely, our purchase will be under factory warranty.

That would be a swingin' deal.

I wonder if dealer would substitute a soft top in lieu of the hardtop, and knock a few bucks off? We don't really want a hard top.

They have this soft top, but we already have a Yellow Jeep.

So true. Friggin' used ones cost very nearly what a new one will, other than the sales tax issue.

Resale on Wranglers is nuts.

Never been a fan so I wouldn't know. I'd rather have the FJ

Have you ever driven one before?

I was in the hunt recently for a replacement for my Acura SUV and took a test drive in a new Unlimited Sport, 4 door. I'd never driven a modern Jeep Wrangler.

There was a noticeable whistle of wind while on the freeway due to the window and roof design. Am very glad I took it on the highway to experience that, because it drove me nuts. Just putzing around town, no issues.

That issue aside, super cool cars, decent gas mileage (but not great), and really strong resale value if you care about that sort of thing.

New they are def. not cheap. Basically 40 grand-ish for nothing fancy. The Sahara and other models add up fast.

I went hunting with my neighbor in his rag top. Way too rough, even on the highway, and far to noisy. It'd be okay for fun but not a DD.

I wasn't talking about maintenance. Warranty is better than no warranty, but it is still a pain in the butt when you have problems. But it's not the end of the world. Your money and your time. Might as well get what you want.

Careful all the awesome '19 deals are JK's, not JL's.

They are selling both the old model and new model as the same MY and they are far from the same vehicle.

A 2 door Wrangler with a mild lift some big tars and a few accessories is a cool toy. But as my only car or regular ride, no freakin way.

Wait for the diesel Get her a 4Runner. Interesting fun-fact about the 4Runner. Its payload capacity is higher than the Tacoma truck. It is higher than a Ford Raptor too. Way higher than the Jeeps. Very capable off road and you can get them with a rear locker
