NO WAY!!! I did find out from a friend of mine that is a service manager at a chevy dealer that the camaros would be hitting the lots in 3 months. He said it was sad that the dealer didnt even have pictures of the cars yet so the only thing they had to go by was the concept vehicle.
I highly doubt that since a near production version hasn't been shown yet or even seen testing. I do know that Chevy is going to be promoting the new Camaro heavily when the new "Transformers" movie debuts since it will be in that movie. Even the one in the movie is just a Pontiac GTO with body panels made to look like the concept. Maybe they will be showing copies of the stunt car from the movie in dealerships to drum up enthusiasm. Everything I've heard is that its still slated for 09 as a 2010 model which seems very far away.

I guess I'm the spoiler in the group. I will seriously look at the 2009 convertible with the 400HP engine in place of the 1999 Corvette. It will be a fun retirement car!!!!
I've loved the Corvettes since 1953, owned them since 1995, so maybe its time for a change.

But I think I read something similar about Corvettes over on the Fbody forum.
Hey... I'm kidding of course. I'm just amused that we so often disparage "lesser" cars than ours while at the same time saying ours are as capable or more so than "greater" cars.
Guess I should keep to the topic of the OP.

No way
One month ago I sold my Z28 and purchased my first Vette. A 99 C5. I am overwhelmed with the difference. The ride, the power, the smile on my face! The Z28 was no slouch, but the difference is like eating at Taco Bell and Los Rancheros in Cancun. No comparison.

Lesser to a Porsche in price... not price/performance. But performance is only one measurement. There's fit and finish, driving feel, and exclusivity. IMO, the Vette loses there but those were less important factors to me.
Re: Fbodies... clearly, the Vette is superior in overall performance to an fbody, but lots of people (not me) measure performance by the 1/4 mile time where the fbody gives the Corvette a pretty good run.
Again... apologies to the original poster for the thread derail... I couldn't resist poking a little fun (at all of us!).

You are missing the point. They would not care if your car outperformed their Porsche. They would just say "so what it's still just a Chevy" See it's the same as you driving around in your pretty white drop-top Vette and you get your doors blown off by some POS old turbo Civic. I am sure you would not say "DAMN I HAVE TO TRADE MY VETTE IN FOR A CIVIC LIKE THAT!!!!” My point is everyone has their own personal preferences. Just like if your Vette outperformed a Porsche owners car you can bet he will still be happy that he is driving home in his Porsche and not your Vette. Different strokes for different folks.

I was just about to compliment you on your old school Camaro, those back in the day kicked butt, I like them, the vert's lines were (are still) gorgeous. Then you post playing some L S "Free Bird" great song, remember the ending of "The Devil's Rejects"?
