Default NASCAR COT uses "donut" spare tire
The Car of Tomorrow is over 2" taller than the current NASCAR cup car. They don't fit in the transports. To make them fit, they use the little donut spare tires so it will be low enough to fit in the transport.

It's only the older transporters that they don't fit in. The newer ones have enough clearance.
