Default Mopar is No Par

My '94 Dakota is a such a POS. Bought it new in '94, all scheduled maintenance routinely, less than 60K miles, and its just one thing after another with it.

Now it has a surge and cut-out problem when hot. 5.2 L V8, auto trans. No codes of course, so it means I have to play the process of elimination game. There was a tech bulletin on the IAC so I replaced that, but no help. I'm going to look at the TPS next, then if that is okay I'll look at EGR I guess.

It might be cheaper to have an experienced tech look at it if you're going the "swap-out" route. If he replaces a part and it doesn't fix the problem, he should be able to pop the old one back in.

I do try to warn people about Chrysler products.......

Unplugged the EGR solenoid and it seemed to eliminate the problem (but lit a check engine lamp of course).

Going to try removing the EGR valve and giving it a thorough cleaning, I suspect it may be slow to close after the ECM commands an EGR cycle. Or its a flaky EGR solenoid. Or both.
