Default Buick Grand National

Anyone ever own a G/N in the past?
In '87, I had an '84, non intercooled, jet fan wheel package, Lier Seigler(sp?) seats. Sold it in '89. Then, in '99 I bought an '87 bone stock, unmolested GN with about 66K miles. It was beautiful, got tons and tons of looks. I sold it for some really stupid reason in '01 and I kick myself every day over it. I would jump on the right one in a heartbeat if it were to materialize in front of me, but I''m really not shopping around for one anymore.

I have had 2 different ones in the past. 1st one i got in 95 with 4600 miles on it, and sold it when i bought my 1st house before I got out of the military. 2nd one (in 2004, with 9600 miles) I bought was too nice and I was scared to drive it in fear something would happen to it.

if I get another one, it will be a nice driver with some miles, a fresh coat of paint and drivetrain rebuild.

Make me an offer on my GN T-Tops. 125K miles, rebuilt engine (20K on new engine and tranny) to stock specs but with forged pistons. Hotwired red fuel pump, billet fuel pressure regulator, K&N filter, volt booster and aluminum radiator are the only mods. New tires (firestone indy500 HR 235/60), new battery, new silverstar low beam headlights...

I just threw in a $500 custom aluminum radiator

How much are you looking to spend?

Would be tough to find one nicer than this.... http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...post1561519650

Car runs and drives Incredible...Hasn't been to the track yet,But based on how bad it walked my buddies Gn the other night from a slow roll (12.0 car),I would say it is a solid 11.5 1/4 mile car.And thats only 15psi.

I had one, an 87 that I bought last year. All i ever wanted was a GN. I spent $2k on this one, biggest mistake ever, car was the worst decision I could possibly have made. Parted out and sold it and still didn't make close to $2k. I dream to own one again. In the meantime, I tattooed the turbo6 symbol on my ankle...I'll know I've met the right guy when he says he knows its a GN symbol and not a Jiffy Lube symbol....lol

They do look remarkably similar. Could also be fun trying ot explain the Jiffy Lube tattoo, hah. If I met a girl with a Buick Turbo 6 tattoo, I'd probably fall in love.

For you not to be able to pull 2k out of a GN..It must of been a complete basket case..lol...No offense.

Also...Finding a 87 Gn for 2k would be the equivalent of finding a nice c5 for 6k...You know that there is going to be alot of work that needs to be done.

Even parting it out...the rear is worth $800-$850 all day long as long as it is the posi....The Brf valve body in the trans is worth $600.The engine,If It ran...Even poorly is worth easily $1000..If it ran well..$2500.Turbo,Intercooler,Wiring Harness,All bring bucks. If the doors weren't rusted...They bring $500 each.Any non rusted body part brings some decent cash.Powermaster...even not working,Kirbans pays around $100 for it.Nice steering wheel brings $150,Nice seats..$400...There are so many things to part off the car to make money on it is ridiculous.

Sorry you had such a bad experience with your 1st Gn....I have had nothing but Gn's and 89 Turbo Ta's for the last few years,And have had great luck with them.

When you go to get your next GN...plan on spending some money for a good one...I would expect a car that would normally still grab 6-7k in pretty bad shape,Would have to be a nightmare for 2k....10-12k will get you a nice driver. The value on the GN's have gone straight through the roof,And continue to climb each year.

The low nada retail on a 87 GN is 9k...25k on the high end.Around 14k for the average...Just something to remember when you run across that next "too cheap to be true"Gn..

I think i've seen you on smallblockposse.com and if so, it would probably explain how you had a hard time parting out that GN for 2k if you were selling parts of it on that site. Not a bad site but bargain hunters are harsh over there....lol
