Damn, that reminds me of my 1976 Lincoln MKIV. Despite having a 460 motor, emission requirements had that thing down to about 195hp. Couple that with a weight of 5,264lbs and the thing could hardly get out of its own way.

Rented a three-cylinder Suzuki mini-jeep (Japanese model, not sold in continental U.S.) in Hawaii. Fun sightseeing vehicle for family of four.

Going flat-out, bicycles would pass us. We just relaxed and enjoyed the ride...we didn't OWN it!

sub006, you've reminded me of the B210 Nissan rental I had in Kauai, 1984. Applying WOT at standing starts resulted in absolutely no sensation of acceleration for a good 3 seconds or more, tho movement would gradually become detectable if you were paying attention. What an absolute slug.

On Oahu and Maui, Firebird (tore up Haleakala!). On the big island, Mustang convertible.

I got that guy above me beat, a 59 Renault Dolphine, with bad rings, I had a pencil stuck in the dipstick hole to keep the oil in the engine, it had so much blowby, it pushed oil out when driving, you could follow the oil trail wherever it went, and it didn't go far.

I thought I had that problem solved, putting heavy oil and a few cans of stp, untill the next morning, when the engine would not spin fast enough to start, it was around 32 overnight.

But at the time it was my prized posession....

Slowest I've driven is probably a HMMWV. Slowest owned has got to be an '88 Cadillac Brougham d'Elegance. It was a plush ride but weighed 4100+ lbs and made a whopping 140hp and 346 lb-ft torque from a 5.0 V8. I once had it floored for miles on the hwy on the way to Vegas and it just could not go beyond 90mph. Later I had to ditch it at a Vegas dealership after it overheated and broke down.

Sample pic (not mine)

1977 Ford Pinto 2.3 Liter = SLOW

1980 Fiat Spider 2000 2.0 Liter. = SLOWER

The Pinto could run circles around the Fiat.

I had the same car and opened this thread to report. That car was soooo sloooow. But, it did great in snow. It got my brother through 4 years at WVU, and got me through 5 years at Virginia Tech. BUT THE HILLS WERE THE WORST. Going up the hills everyone would pass me, then I'd pass them going down, then everyone would pass me going up the next hill, ... It was sooo embarrassing. Took a V8 on those same hills a couple of years ago with my brother, last WVU v. VA Tech football game, and what a difference

Oh, just remembered something slower thatn the Suzuki jeep! A new '68 Mercedes Diesel I delivered to a dealer in Hollywood for a leasing company. Foot to the floor at all times.

PS: The ignition key does NOT turn the engine off. There's a round dash button you have to pull oput to disengage the glow plug.
