Interesting use of C6 parts..and put it in a sub 2300 lb car...damn.
This is interesting... looks like they completely rotated the top end around or do you see another way to get tranny in??>>

I know that car and the owner and developers very well, picture a Z06 on steroids, I beleive the curb weight is about 2,400 lbs. Factory Five Racing is the largest Replica Manufacture in the country , there known for there 427 Cobra, Daytona Coupe, & the GTM which is there own design using C5 drivetrain & Porsche transaxle . Great people to know and deal with a top shelf Co.

That's true...they spec a G50 Porsche transaxle from the 911. I've been around one of these in various forms of construction and my only complaint was the lack of headroom...otherwise it is a great looking car with crazy performance.

"In honor of jpee"
wasn't Pantera a similar arrangement?
and btw, what did they take out to make it a 2,400 lb. car?

$35,000 and $40,000 to complete the car including Chevrolet parts, wheels/tires, paint and the Porsche transaxle.

I've been to the factory & met many of the Factory Five employees; they are a first class group of people that are making supercars available to the masses (those who aren't afraid to build them).

If I could afford a good daily driver and have a fun car on the side I would build one. I can't imagine what it must feel like to floor it in a car that weighs 2400 lbs with 500 HP and 475 lb/ft of torque. Then if you procharged that thing... The possibilities are endless for that vehicle

I looked into the GTM before getting interested in C6.
It's very pretty, and is a high quality kit. Personally I like the look of their frame, rather than the Corvette's safety wise.
In any case, what I found out is that build time is much longer than one is lead to believe from the advertising materials. It's more like 500+ hours due to the car you want to put into this and the amount of extra work to get all the donor parts and fine details (latches, headlight assemblies, radiator mounts, etc. machined to assemble just right. A good long term project, but I don't have garage space for something that long.
Another thing that has happened, is that once the kit finally got into production, prices on the 911 transaxle parts increased once sellers understood there was some demand other than scavenging by other Porsche owners. Unlike the Cobra kit, this one doesn't have a well understood time/cost.
These were the impressions I got from reading the Factory Five forums for a short time about 6 months ago.

I built a factory five cobra replicar . the company is top shelf and driven by top engineers. I have seen a few gtms, very very cool cars.
in my opinion its the ultimate kit car.
my cobra was about 2200 lbs, the body was only 100 lbs!! the frame is incredibly strong, i could go on and on about this company, they have free tours every Saturday, well worth the trip.
