I've had so many Mustangs back in the day I lost count over the years, 65s-68s, coupes, fastbacks. Now have a 68 coupe w/ an I6 I bought last summer as a driver and enjoy it, Nevada rust free car for $3,600 w/ 90% new parts and paint
When it comes to a vintage vette there is no comparison, especially the custom 68-69's I've seen with the L88 hood and fender flares done right. Thats one car I have to get before its all said and done, always loved most of the C3's but couldn't afford one till now.
What I like about this I6 the most, after working on newer cars, is 15 minutes to change a fuel pump, 20 minutes for a water pump (w/cig break) and thinking of pulling motor and trans for a paint job some afternoon and reinstall by dark, this thing is cake to work on.
As for the vettes, they are definatly in a higher class and the style of the 68-69 will never be beat, but the early mustang fastbacks do look good also when done right.

I guess you could say then a Corvette is a Poor Mans Ferrari then?
I disagree with the Poor Mans Z28, After all a Z28 is just a Zippy 2.8 Liter to me, I never had 1 beat me when I owned my 1992 Mustang GT. I also beat Z28's on a regular basis with a 1990 3.1 Beretta.

Not sure why some vette owners dont like stang guys but that goes both ways ... I have Ford buddys that disowned me when i got a C5.
I would sell the vette before my 03 Cobra though...

I own both a C6 Z06 and a 94' Mustang Cobra... The Cobra has been mine since new!!! I dont get the reason why so many Vette owners hate mustangs..... Most of the Vette owners I know had Mustangs in the past. I happen to really like the new Mustangs. If I were to get rid of my Cobra I would get a new one to replace it.

I dont like mustangs, because they were once one of americas great muscle cars and then they sold out by forgetting performance and heading twards low prices so they could make more sales, I just think Ford is GREAT for trucks (non can beat them IMHO) but Ford needs to stay away from cars, especially performance cars if they plan on making them economy style
also about the Frod GT statement on the first page, the Ford GT was only about 15 ft better and a second or 2 faster then an 06 Lingenfelter in the most recent 200-0-200 challenge I read about, for the price, I think the GT should be making LAPS arround the Lingenfelter

You cannot enter the phase "for the price" when talking about performance. Either its fast or its slow. Its all in the engineering. In the eighties the V6 turbos were faster than anything. Who cares what it costs. You can buy a fast car cheap and a fast car for a big price, doesn't matter. You are paying for a name, such as Ferrari.

In high school, I had my used C2 and a friend had a new '66 Mustang. First time he saw my car he said, "I don't like Chevys but 'Vettes are different".
I've always felt the same way about Fords vs. Mustangs. I like the '64-'66 convertibles best. They're not really performance cars but they look (and make you feel) special.
Today the friend drives vintage Porsche 911s and I mostly drive my 430,000-mile '90 Suburban 383. The 'Vette just sits in the barn.

I can sum it up this way. A buddy of mine had a Mustang, I have Vette. He says that he is going to buy a Mustang and he knows someone that can do a few things to it for a couple of thousand dollars and it will produce 1000 hp and he will smoke all Vettes and embarass the Vette drivers in front of their girlfriends. Now this is a guy that sold cars for a living and is not stupid. Not all Mustang drivers are like this, but it seems the majority are.

Let's start a new thread, "Why do 'Vette and Porsche owners not speak to each other?"
Because water-cooled turbos and all wheel drive are worth the extra Marks?
Because Porsche's attempt to build a front-engine Corvette killer (the 928) failed so miserably?
