response form Nissan about dealer mark-ups on the GT-R....
Dear Eric Shapiro, Thank you for contacting Nissan North America, Inc. and allowing us the opportunity to be of assistance.Thank you for your e-mail. I apologize for the delayed response.Nissan appreciates the time you have taken to contact Nissan. We apologize for the inconvenience. In regards to your inquiry about GT-R placement of new order:A list of certified GT-R dealers should be available on our web site some time in February. The site address is www.nissanusa.com. You can check the web site at that time for other Certified GT-R dealers in your area.Unfortunatley Nissan North America is prohibited by law from selling directly to the public and from setting final reatail prices. Nissan has encouraged authorized Nissan dealersto sell GT-Rs at Nissan's suggested retail price(MSRP). However, because dealers are independent businesses, they have the final authority by law to set and negotiate the actual selling price.File number # 6107931 has been created to document this concern. We want to keep you happy, please feel free to email me back or call 1-800-647-7261(Nissan Consumer Affairs) with any additional questions or comments. Sincerely, Arnel Gomez Consumer Relations Representative Nissan North America, Inc.

Price
I have been called by two dealers. Each has provided me with a quote:
Dealer #1. msrp + 15,000.00
Dealer #2. 90,000 firm.
I said it sounds like the old Viper & ZO6 release, he said yes it does. I said you can get an 08 ZO6 for 65k and they were going for 80k when released, now they are sitting on the lot. He could care less. The 90k Dealer has both sold.
He also informed me that all certified dealers had to spend 25,000 in service equipment.

yup on the owners club weve seen a few dealers doing 0-5K over which is reasonable considering the silver is a 3K option in itself
the only thing to watch out about that is alot of dealer are taking alot more preorders than their 2009 model year allocation. so God knows when people a little bit down the list will get thiers

Rumours of the newest v-spec version (lighter / more power) are that it ran nurburgring in the 7.25's

That's pretty scary that the V-Spec is posting numbers like this already.
7:24 Lexus LF-A *unofficial [1]
7:25 Nissan GT-R V-Spec ($90k-$110k?)
7:27.82 Pagani Zonda F Clubsport ($1.2mil)
7:28 Porsche Carrera GT
7:32.02* Porsche 997 GT2 2008
7:34 Koenigsegg CCR
7:38.54 Nissan GT-R
7:40 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren
7:40 Bugatti Veyron 16/4
7:42.9 Chevrolet Corvette C6 Z06 [2]
Where are the ZR1 numbers, hasn't it been there for a couple days?

And to that comment one could say that Nissan is gearing up the correct way to service the car. This an offensive move on their part to assure quality service. I don't know if you ever really looked at the build quality of Nissan's sports car.......say the 300Z TT. It's build quality is superb. When you see one look at closely. The car was a technically advanced when it was released. Four wheel steering, many computers and built very solid. Back in 1990 the car had a suspension sport switch, it would firm the ride up nice. So if you can try not to call us all rice, *** cars, or whatever (not that you have). I have had my ups and downs with this forum but we must just move on. I also like the corvette. Me I like the reg C6 or the C5 ZO6. Why you may ask....I like the underdog, I also like having my car modded out by a professional (wish I could do it myself) I'm not a racer or drag professional, I just like cars. I would find more pleasure being at a light with a C6 with about 850 at the wheels and blowing off a ZO6. Their both corvettes, but I would enjoy a C6 with a paddle shifter any day. I had a car that put down 640 rwhp and had fun many times at lights. Wish I had a camera to snap a shot of their face. It wasn't the fastest car on the road but I loved it.
As I get older, I'm starting to understand the value and appreciate the meaning of the word stock. It's easy to maintain and less expensive to operate. Thats why I like the GTR. It's going to be affordable for me and it's at a performance level only a few car manufactures can or want to achieve.
p.s. I visit the forum because I like the forum. After time you get to know each other or what the others will post over a topic. It's fun, unfortunately for me I have met more moderators than members but I hope that will change. Have a good one.

There will be plenty of room for tuning and mods without having to worry about the warranty. It's pretty impressive all the effort Nissan is putting into preparing the dealerships to cater to GT-R owners.
"Paul34 is absolutely correct. Magnusson-Moss is pretty clear about this. In twenty-five words or less; the manufacturer has to prove that your mod caused a failure in the component for which you are making a warranty claim.
Let's say you perform a mod that results in excess boost or compression, and you blow a headgasket. Probably you're screwed on that repair. But if you then remove the mod, Nissan can't then use it as a basis for future refusals to cover another blown headgasket, let alone unrelated subsystems. Something that defeats a top-speed governor could potentially cause an ECU failure, but that'd be about it.
Not that you need more power in this car, but the Nissan V6 scales pretty damned well from what I understand. When the tuners really start getting their hands dirty with this one, it's going to get nasty."
