Default FS: LS1/FD Perfection - 1993 RX-7

The time has come to think about another project car, so I'm listing up my immaculate RX-7. I really love the car, but I enjoy building cars so I'm already thinking about what my next project will be. The car is extremely well done, no shortcuts whatsoever. I take pride in doing good work and making things right the first time, even if its a part nobody will ever see. Its a visceral experience driving the car, and probably best explained as violent when driven hard. I'm not pressed to sell all, so low offers will not be considered whatsoever. If it sells great, if not, then I'll continue to enjoy it.

He's not kidding when he says perfection. Look through some of those build threads for proof. I have driven it and ridden in it several times and I think he is crazy for getting rid of it, but I guess he has the C6Z itch.

Hopefully Danny Popp sees this thread (he will now that I used his name lol) he has seen it several times and driven it at autox as well and can vouch. It is the real deal.

If I wasn't dreaming of a C6z, I'd be all over this Kevin...

Been watching your builds over in the V8RX forum for awhile. God what a gorgeous car.

Well I had my FD(until last month), since 2006. I'm on my 2nd C5(this one is blown). The FD is smaller and tighter, more responsive, but easily less comfortable and less practical as a daily driver IMO. It's still one of the best looking cars ever made as far as I'm concerned. After much internal conflict, I finally decided the C6z is my end goal, and so I sold off the FD, the S13, and when I'm ready for the switch, my c5 will be next.

I will miss reading about your car though Kevin. It's been an inspiration for many of us, and would eat my c5 alive.

Yes, I just had it corner weighted a few weeks ago.

The total weight with a 3/4 tank of gas (20 gal tank) was 2950 lbs, without me.

With me in it, the weight distribution was 49.5 front, 50.5 rear. Perfect 50/50 crosses after a few quarter turns on the coilovers.

For those drag guys, I ran on my Hoosier road race tires (not optimum at all) I ran an 11.333 my second time to the strip ever in this car.

Interesting. So the swap added about 160lb (actually less since you have more gas in than a curb weight rating). How did you keep the balance? Is the tranny in the rear? Did you move the fire wall back?

I remember weighing my buddy's bare 13B block when the engine was out and we had 225lb of engine. When I went single-turbo, I weighed all my TT hardware and was surprised to find there was another 75lb of weight there, not including the stock downpipe and mid section. The "dynamic manifold" alone was 45lbs!

I also remember Jim LaBreck weighing a fully dressed 20B at a whopping 512lb, so the LS is definitely the better swap powerplant if one is philosophically OK about that.

The balance is kept because the engine is light, the transmission is pretty long and sits back pretty far, and I've got a roll bar in the back along with a pretty heavy duty rear end setup

Lets get some reasonable offers.
