Here is a comparison between the gen 2 and 3 Viper. The cars are identical in terms of color and shot at the same camera angle.

Imo, the GTS has more radical styling, but the SRT is way more modern. What do you all think?

I'd prefer the 2nd gen; but the 2003 viper looks really good.

I still prefer the GTS, but it's amazing how similar the two are when you get them side by side.

I have had a few and still love the looks of the 2nd gen the best. My order of preference:

1st) Blue and white 1996-1997 GTS

2nd) 2001-2002 Creampuff GTS (I have a 2002 red white stipe GTS now)

3rd) gen 4 ACR black red stripe

Too hard, I think looks a white and blue GTS, and for driving I would rather have an SRT. Same color combo just with maybe white wheels.

My avitar is the choice I made, drove all the years wanted that look and a stock bottom end that could handle over 1000hp

Though I would love to have either of them I think the SRT does it a little more for me...just a little.

I would think that Corvette people woud like the 3rd/4th gen since those look a lot more like a C6 than the early ones.

For me SRT 10 vert. for top down motoring. I like the looks of the SRT 10 coupes, but want a vert. If I were going to mod the car I would go with a GTS. They're all badass and you can't go wrong with any of 'em.

I prefer Gen 2 over Gen 3 for looks. I like driving experience of Gen 3 over Gen 2. Gen 2 is more unforgiving at the limit. Gen 3 handling is more predictable.

I've been meaning to ask but why do some refer to certain model years as creampuff. Only thing that comes to mind for guessing is the later model years didn't have the same durable internals as earlier years?

It is the new cam on the 2000, 2001 and 2002 model.

I have driven both and it is not a huge difference. The newer ones just idle smoother. A test drive in both is needed before you buy but I always liked the newer one a little better. IMO, The older forged piston Vipers are better if you want to add FI. The newer Pnumatic pistons are better for everyday use on a stock motor. I did a lot of reading on them back about 8 years ago.
