Default Audi R8

I was having some service work done and the Audi dealer is next door. I went over to drool over the R8. The wife was with me so the salesman put on his track shoes.

He said that only 300 R8s were brought into the US and all of them are already here. So if you want an R8 better hurry.

I think I will wait for the V10 and wait and wait.

Why drool over an R8 when you already have a C6? Also, why wait for a V10 R8 when you can have a ZR1 now? Even Jeremy Clarkson prefers the ZR1, and that's saying something!

I don't follow Jeremy but that is not the norm for him. I am going to Bob Bondurant's Grand Prix Racing school March 1st and I am holding off on suspension until after that. They are working on the suspension and should be finished by then.

I am not happy with the tires and I have never tried trading out tires. Mine have 6k miles and obviously have many, many more. I just made a decison, I am too old to screw with tires I don't like.

Take the runflats off of any C6 and get better performance. IMO, runflats are horrible for sports cars. It's a joke that they come standard on Corvettes.

My OEM runflats were worn out at 16,000 miles, so I replaced all four with Goodyear GSD3s and will never go back to runflats. The D3s are phenomenol in every way.

Not anymore... They put these 2 against each other and he changed his tune.

Umm... no. Watch this clip. He calls the V10 R8 "the better car" but he says more than once that one should buy the ZR1 instead.

There is a guy around here w/ a beautiful Grey R8 with the carbon fiber side panels. I've walked him. Its a more impressive looking car than a performer, 1/4 times are high 12's Low 13's.

The V8 and V10 cars are worlds apart in terms of performance, I believe the V10 is capable of low 12/high 11 second performance. The R8 vs. the ZR-1 are two totally different ways to get to the same destination..... The R8 is a refined performer that put down similar lap times to the ZR-1, ZR-1 was faster in the hands of a pro driver but for the average guy who isnt as handy you would likely see better times out of the R8 as its not as raw and not as much of a handful to drive as the ZR-1. Think of one as a scalple and the other as a chain saw...... both of them could cut a person to pieces..... the scalple making clean precision cuts and being very neat..... they chain saw making one hell of a mess

Fun factor goes to the ZR-1 and the precision refined car goes to the Audi.... pick your poison.... both are world class performers

I personally would take the ZR-1 as I prefer a car that needs to be driven vs. driving itself, however I do love the Audi but I think if I was going to drop that coin I would just go for the Gallardo
