The May 2010 issue of Popular Science had an article about a company called Local Motors....short version...bunch of engineers get together, form a car company, take designs from internet submissions, with enough intrest...build car ...with purchasers input supervised by engineers. Takes 50 buyers to make one happen.

I really like the concept but can it make it as a company? The PopSci issue said they have done two models already but I have heard nothing else.
