Default 1971 Chevelle Malibu $10000

1971 Chevelle Malibu

Drivetrain
406 smallblock. Built lower end. Cylinder heads are Dart Sportsman iron heads with very extensive work done to them by Wes King. The cylinder heads alone have $3000.00 into them. 11.4 CR. It was a 2 bolt block but now has 4 bolt splayed caps stock 400 crank which I believe are .010/.010. Isky solid camshaft Z-70(specs for cam are available on their website). Rods are 5.565 stock rods that have been polished on the beams. 3.75 stroke. High volume oil pump. Double roller chain. Moly rings. Car runs mid 11's on pump gas and has been 10's on a small shot of nitrous. I have personally never sprayed a large shot on the car but the lines and solenoids are capable of a 300 shot. The transmission is a well built TH350 with a manual valvebody. Rearend is a bolt in fab 9 setup from Chris Alston Chassisworks. It has 4.11 gears and Strange axles. The rearend assembly was $2500.00. Exhaust is large diameter full length headers and a 3 inch mandrel bent exhaust with x pipe dumped through Dynomax mufflers at the axle. Yes, its damn loud.

Fuel system
Dedicated fuel cell in trunk for nitrous use and/or race gas if you'd like. 6AN nitrous lines and large solenoids. Fuel system is a return style with 8AN lines the length of the car. The car is equipped with valves off the fuel cell to move fuel from the cell to main tank or vice versa.

Interior
New seats, seatbelts, doorpanels, and carpet installed. The rear seat was in nice shape so it was not reupholstered. Rear sidepanels are also in nice condition as is headliner. LED backlit instrument cluster. There is a switch panel mounted in the dash for ignition, start, fuel pump, and electric water pump. Top of dash pad has a crack in it.

Body
Car is white and will need a repaint. The paint is original and the car is very straight. There is a minor dent on the back of the passenger side quarter panel that is shown in the pictures. The doors and fenders line up great and shut easily. Both bumpers are in very nice condition. All of the light bezels, grille trim, etc. are intact and in good condition. Nothing broken. The only thing not stock is a set of reproduction fenderwells from Goodmark that were installed because the originals had been beat, hammered, etc. over the years. The hood was replaced with another stock one because someone decided to cut out the supports for it in an attempt to save weight. So I took it off the car and folded it up(literally). The trunk section was sealed off with an aluminum plate and dynomat was installed in the car to reduce noise and heat. The car has no rust or bondo in it.

Car is sitting on Weld wheels front and rear with new skinnys up front and new MT street drag radials in the rear. Wheels and tires are in great condition. The heaterbox was pulled and the firewall smoothed. All of the electronics are through the firewall on a correct isolator so engine bay is not a rats nest. Everything is done very cleanly under the hood. Although I have not driven the car for a few months, it has made several weekend drives including a trip to Tahoe. It is very reliable and runs very cool. If you can afford the gas, you can drive it wherever you want. As you can tell the car is not a paintjob and a stock engine. These are all high dollar parts and the car is solid and done right.

I am sure there is plenty of information missing. Its not always easy to think of everything thats been done to a car like this. You can call me with whatever questions you may have. I have done some of the maintenance work to the car but I received it in much the same condition as it is now. Pat Shelley built the engine. Locally, he is where people take their SBC questions and engines when they want to go fast on 91 octane. He could probably help you there. Unfortunately I do not remember all the details of the build as it was done some years back.
