Default 03-04 Ford SVT Lightnings

Anyone here own one, in these years? Thinking of getting one and would like to hear from current/past owners on the pros and cons of these trucks.

I have reviewed some forums, and got some of the basic stuff like stock bottom is good to around 450hp or so... parts are getting hard to find...

Whate are some of the things you regretted doing or should have done...

Nope they dont, they have the 5.4 in em and not bullet proof like the Cobra(terminator motor) but they are good for 450+ hp with good tunes. I would reccomend you check out svtperformance forum

I had a 2001 and there is virtually no difference from the 2001 to the final year of production, 2004. I think the 'cargo' capacity was increased, but c'mon people ain't buying these trucks for carrying cargo.

380hp/450tq at 4700lbs...The supercharger whine is like a drug.

Don't get one if you plan to budget your gas purchases. I had mine from March of 2004 to Oct 2006 and loved it. Regular cab doesn't offer much cab storage space, so you just have to make due. I had a black vinyl tonneau cover as well. Stock stereo kinda sucks, but it had a 10 disc cd changer behind the seat. Just like my C5 being my first and only Chevy, my Lightning was my first and only Ford. No issues in terms of reliability.

I had a 99 and a 03 L. Both were stock and ran fine. Loved the looks but could never get past it being a full size truck. Fast for a truck or about the same as my modded 5.3 Colorado crew cab. It is not C6 fast by any means.

Ya bad. I got around 12 to 13 MPG in both my 99 and 03 L's.

They are a blast to drive....quick brick! Gas mileage...forget about it! I would consider a C5 and a caddy CTS-V in my search also.

engine in them is 5.4 SOHC (same valve train as regular 5.4) cast iron crank I believe, powdered metal rods but they do have good forged pistons.. Eaton M112 supercharger sits on top of the engine..
