people who buy an s-class and the ls460 don't buy it cause of the price tag, they buy it cause they wanna show off. I don't think MB and lexus is worried about hyundai

it'll be great when hyundai comes up with their own unique styling for sedans rather than being derivatives of other cars.
their other stuff at least looks unique--crossover suv's, genesis coupe, etc.

If its quality and reliability are high enough it can compete with Lexus.
If its performance is high enough, it can compete with Mercedes.
If its quality, reliability and performance are high enough, it can compete with both.
However, it will take a while for this to happen, given that its parent's name is associated with (primarily) inexpexpensive economy vehicles.

Methinks they won't have trouble selling these cars. The car will be sold with a full concierge service included for the first 4 years. The idea is that the owners won't have to visit the dealership and mix with Hyundai's hoi-polloi clients. The dealership personnel will come and pickup the car for maintenance and drop off the loaner car. A sybarite can enjoy this car and never see a typical hyunday owner.

I do not think that selling this vehicle will be a problem at all. However, I do not think that buyers of MB, Lexus, Audi, etc will be converted. From what I have seen from this car so far, based upon internet and car magazine reviews, it's quality is good, but not great.
Buyers of this car will probably be those who were previously considering a luxury car of lower content or size. Now that this car has entered with a price tag similar to luxury cars half it's size, buyers will notice.
