Well its not what I would have done, but that doesn't mean a damn thing.
First off, please get rid of the dealer logo on the left rear panel (looks like it
says "Afganistan" at a quick glance.
Second, the car has a great shape and stance, but the wheels look mundane, I
imagine many vette or gm wheels would work and make the thing really pop.
Third, I'm surprised at the size of the rotors when looking at the two cars in profile,
either its a lot lighter than the Z or Caddy didn't expect any real spirited driving.

C'mon back with some impressions after you've had it for a while. And you're right it
is a rough crew. All the best with it.
Regards,
Paul in North Jersey.

I like them, they look really cool and mature, I wouldn't take one on a track where as I have no problem driving a C6Z06 on the track.Enjoy your XLR BTW the color looks fantastic

I saw one in the States when I was over there. Never seen one and my mate said what's this thing. I told him it's a caddy he spun out LOL. I must admit it does look pretty cool in real life. Now would I trade a Z06 C5 not a chance in hell ! I'm just a Corvette guy I guess and you sold the best they had in that model and it was black. Enjoy your new toy and you will be sick of it soon and probably trade it for another toy ! Anyway enjoy all the toys out there because there are heaps of them..... Stewy

Hmnnn.... I can see this will be a harsh crowd. Yes XLR's are a difficult car. I have an 06 that I just built an LS7 to drop in. I'll take the cars quirks any day over the plastic cheap Vette interior. In the correct trim and XLR will hang with anything, and you simply don't see them very often.

BTW.. hi all...lol

Seeing the XLR-V was the highest trim level and that would get destroyed by a GrandSpot, i think your comment saying it will hang with anything is rather silly.

Now if youre talking modified, if you have enough money, you can make a civic hang with anything.

Which GS are we now discussing? I've owned a 69. It came with a 455 stage 3 and 4 speed but kept the Skylark bench seat. It was my college car, and while it was well cared for and wickedly fast in a straight line, there isn't a chance in hell stock for stock it hangs with an XLR V! Now if you want to discuss the Mallet prepped XLR the story only gets worse

I happen to think there is much more potential in the LS7 than in any level of Northstar build. That is the only reason I chose to pull my engine in favor of a built LS7. However, unless you've owned built and driven both casr be careful about ragging on a car you don't know.

Congrats. The C5Z is better, in my opinion, but the XLR is a cool car as well.

XLR is one cool car. A project I'm thiking about: take a XLR, add the drivetrain and brakes from a wrecked C6Z, T1 springs, shocks, and sway bars and some sticky tires and have one killer sleeper Caddy.

Ironically, a 1996 grandsport with a good driver would destroy an xlr, and beats an XLR-V in probably every catagory(straight line is a drivers race).

I'm sure the ls7 helps a lot by adding 60hp, and by cutting some more weight off the nose. Bigger brakes and tires would help too. But figuring the XLR-V weighs 3840lbs, an ls7 swapped one with bigger wheels and breaks would weigh approximately the same. Not 2010 grand sport competition.

And the interior isnt anything special but thats just my opinion.

Funny. Curb weight of the 1995 Grand Sport 3351; Curb weight of the 2010 Grand Sport 3311. Curb weight of the 2005 XLR 3647. The difference is wheels, seats and the cost of hard top mechanism. I'm sure it will hold its own just fine. I do have to respect the brand loyalty.

Quite the contrary. I need a car with a back seat so im probably gonna sell my 94 and my oldsmobile to cut down to one fun car. I'm considering GTO's(despised by the 90% wouldnt you agree?), 03/04 Mach 1's, volvo S60R's, and 11/12 v6 performance pack mustang. Every company makes both diamonds and absolute crap and everything in between.

But as you said, the wheels and brakes need to be added to ther base xlr just to be competitive while they are already there on the vette. The hardtop adds weight and only hinders performance further extending the gap. Visually I cant tell the seats on the caddy being better then c6 seats but never sat in one myself. Cool looking cars, just no where near the price they should be to me, new or used currently.
