Default Thanks GM......

.....for devaluing your product.

I've been trying to trade in my 2011 GMC Sierra Crew Cab SLE 4x4 with only 6,000 miles for an '09 CTSV but due to GM practically giving away their trucks the most I've been offered for it on trade in is $26,000. Mind you the sticker price on the truck was $38,500 and I'm trying to trade for a $48,000 vehicle.

Did you pay $38,500 for it?

It's not like they're the only one that are discounting trucks and gas is $3.50 a gallon too.

Well, you should have easily gotten $8k+ off the Sierra, so it's a $3,500 loss for trade-in. I got $14k off my brand new Yukon Denali back in '08.

If you paid anywhere close to sticker for your truck, then you deserve the bath you'd take on it trading it in.

Hell no I didn't pay $38,000 for it. I paid $29,500 with a friend's employee discount. Now, even non-employees are picking them up for even less!

Vette Minded: What does gas have to do with my thread?

Yep, sure am. I'm seeing used trucks like mine on the lots for $32,000.

But after reading the way that you put it does make me feel a little better.

No kidding. $3,500 in depreciation for 6,000 miles on a new truck is not bad at all. OP, please read up on this neat phenomenon called a 'depreciation curve' and you'll see it's not such a bad deal.

As fuel prices continue to rise, less fuel efficient vehicles will lose value as there are less consumers interested in purchasing these types of vehicles. That's another neat phenomenon in economics called 'supply and demand curve.'

So, they are offering $26k for trade-in and other dealers are ASKING $32k for a similiar truck as yours to sell on the used car market. Yet another neat phenomenon called 'for-profit business enterprises aka capitalism.'

I see what you are saying but I don't like the way that you are saying it. So, if you want to continue being a Jack *** you can move on and stay out of my thread.

And once again we have another example of you trying to make your ***** seem larger. Move on to another thread.

your approach to this thread is

tough times right now, worst since the great depression.

try selling it yourself or take a hit for already having a willing buyer, the stealership.

and with the sales tax savings on the trade you're getting $27,560....less than $2000 to drive a car 6000 miles....that should make you feel even better than before!

I started the thread to let off some steam. Some seem to want and flex their internet muscles and offer a little too much help.

Yeah, I'm going to try and sell it on my own. From the way things are looking though I probably won't end up getting much more than what the stealerships are offering.

When you trade in a car on another car you only pay tax on the difference. That means in this case you'll only pay tax on $22,000 instead of $48,000. In my state that's about a $1400 savings.

personally that difference is wonderful, come 4 or 6 more months of steady increasing fuel prices and your truck will drop a good bit more in value. Same thing happened last time fuel jumped to $4+ a gallon.

Not a truck, but my 06 Gto with 50k on the clock dropped aprox 6k within 9 months. Of course once fuel droped down in price, I pick a few $k's back but no where near what it had been.
