Sell well?
Yes, I commonly see the Dodge dealers car lots full of every year Viper produced
Total Viper sales equals about one year of Vette sales.

WTF does that have to do with anything?
By your rationale we should think the Mustang is a better sports car because they sell more than Vette's?

I think Porsche sells more 911s than Dodge does Vipers. Does that mean 911s cost less or are crap?

Not sure why you're saying this since the whole point of this thread is about the new 2013 Viper. It's being debuted in April at the Detroit auto show.
It should sell pretty well considering that segment hasn't suffered much through the bad economy.
Why wouldn't you see them on the road? Do you live in Haiti?

The point that was made about competition should be emphasized. The Viper nor the Vette would be what they are without the competition between them. We are all the winners!

Same here. However, where I work, one of the girls I know dates a guy with a SRT10 convertible. Other than that rare circumstance I only see Vipers are car shows. Only seen one on the road at best three times in my life. However, in DFW I can see Ferraris, Lambos, tons of Porsches etc etc.

Beyond a threat. It will outperform the C6's. The question is, will the C7 Z06 be a threat to the 2013 Viper. If it isn't I may own my first Viper. I am worried about government motors ruining the C7. 8.7L ~700 hp... Monster.

I have an 08 ZO6, an 09 Viper and now a 12 ZR1. I always felt the ZO6 got going quicker than the Viper even though the Viper was almost 100 more bhp. Then there is the comfort, safety, and technology that the ZO6 has all over the Viper. I have only driven my ZR1 for a day but it impressed the hell out of me. The only advantage the Viper had was being more exclusive, I saw a ZO6 every day or so on the road and a Viper once or twice a year. At the shoes are rows of Vettes and 90% of the time I have the only Viper. This summer I intend to take the ZR1 to an occasional show instead of the Viper. As an owner and driver of both.... I have to pick the Vette over the Viper.

Threat?
131 mph quartermile the 600 hp viper is faster straightline than the 128 mph z06 and just a lil slower than the 134 mph zr1.
7.12 for the 600 hp viper at the ring dust both the zr1s 7.19 and the z06s 7.22.
So straight line or roadcourse the current viper is already a threat.
When your talking about 3300 pounds and 700 hp....this is no longer a threat. This is an executioner.
The viperis aiming for the aventador. Not any corvette and defintly not the 50k 470 hp c7 lol.
8.7 liters and 700 hp with an upscaled interior and a base price of 130k......from a rare supercar to a low end exotic the transformation begins

Get real folks. About as much is known about the new viper(even a month away from being revealed somehow) as the C7 specs. Everything I've heard speculates 660ish hp. I'll put any amount of money that it wont be 700hp. There is a point of deminishing returns with every motor. The viper being a GIGANTIC pushrod can only make so much power in the face of emissions. It can only redline so high, and it already makes a butt ton of torque, so any power gains are gonna take a good amount of R and D to accomplish. Hence why it just wasnt worth it to make an 8.0+ LSx to get the ls9's numbers(and yes I know about the 8.2 Katech motor). The viper v10 in its current state, I'm guessing will only last one more generation. Either way, I anxiously await the new viper specs.

The reveal is in only 8 days, and no way is the new Viper going to be only 660HP. It will be more, be lighter and have a super nice interior to go with it. It will NOT have a base price of 130K, not even close to that although you will be able to option it out substantially higher. I will be very suprised if the base price exceeds 100K. This car wants to play in the Ferrari/Porsche playground and it will be faster than either with a supercar worthy interior.
And when the ACR version comes out in two years, I'll own one. You think the Ring recod of 7.12.13 is something wait till you see what that monster runs.
