Closer than you might think. Nurburgring Times:

7:19.63 Chevrolet Corvette C6 ZR1 (2012)
7:22.68 Chevrolet Corvette C6 Z06 (2012)
7:26.40 Chevrolet Corvette C6 ZR1 (2009)
7:41.27 Camaro ZL1 (2012)
7:59.00 Chevrolet Corvette C6 Z51

While it's not gonna beat a ZR1 or a Z06, it would be a worthy competitor to the base C6.

OP Congrats on your purchase!

In this case it's like sh.....ing in front of somebody's door, ringing the doorbell and asking if you can borrow any toilet paper. Down South we like to talk in similarities.

My brother has one on order too, and I owned a 10' SS/RS. He loves them and I was kind of disappointed with them, though the ZL1 is alot more car than the 2SS/RS first run. We've both owned a few vettes and he currently drives a 10' 2SS/RS and prefers it over the vette. So I guess I'm just babbling at this point...lol

Yes I did. Traded my 06A6 MR cpe pro charged for a 2011 SGM Callaway Camaro 6sp man. It did draw a lot of looks, was very fast and I loved shifting again. For me some draw backs, steering wheel poor ergonomics, A pillars to big, twice almost pulled into an on coming car from the right. Rear views bad also, very dependent on the side mirrors. I had it for 9 months (Nov 2010 thru Aug 2011) then I traded for a 2009 Callaway convertible, with 7800 mi. Extremely well cared for. Very happy I went back to a vette. Good Luck and enjoy your new ride as I will in mine.

Hope you like the view....get used to it.

Just joking - Great car! I was just reading up on the car in several magazines. It beat the GS by .1 in the quarter. I thought it was going to be faster with 580hp, but the weight is killing it. Are you gonna mod it or just leave it stock and enjoy it?

They do look nice but it just boils down to this.

When you see a Camaro, you say, "there's another Camaro", but when you see a VETTE, you say,"that's a damn nice Vette". The pony cars are simply reworked ideas. Boring styling and over-priced heavyweights. People will be impressed with the power (such as yourself) but at the end of the day it's still another Camaro driving down the road or sitting in the garage.

We see that the ZL1 beats the GS by .1.........I mean really? 580HP beats 430HP by .1 second? That's 1/10th of a second. So, if I add headers/exhaust (costing $1,500) raising my HP somewhat will it be the same? Very doubtful! So, my less expensive GS (or any base car) is beating the more expensive ZL1 now. I wonder what those numbers would be.

The Camaro will be a nice car for my daughter perhaps................I'll keep the Vette!

I say that about Mustangs, only I finish the sentence with "driven by another woman" and if I really said that sentence when I saw a woman driving a Mustang I would probably be saying it maybe 100-1,000,000 times per day. Mustangs are a plenty, not sure which of the 36 different variants Ford comes out with every year is the most popular, but yea, women love them.....snot nosed kids too.

Maybe we should say, the C6 with the Z51 option is a worthy competitor to the Camaro. Intake, headers and tune and maybe it might beat the Camaro.

Congrats on your purchase of the ZL1 Camaro. Getting one for list price at this stage of the game is good deal! Around here, some dealers are talking a 5-10k premium over MSRP.
