Now if you were using the money to buy a house, I'd understand but to buy an engagement ring? In the US, the girl's parents pay for the wedding! Keep a decent car for yourself.

That being said, I must also congratulate you for taking the plunge. It's been 22 years for me and my better half.

Heh, we have been off and on for over 12 years now. She deserves it.
I will always be able to get another car, hell, for the last 10 years, I have gone through 2-3 every year.
She will be looking at that ring for the rest of her life, have to make it count.

And the "everything related" will include getting rid of our current homes and buying a new one.....

Thanks

Alot has changed in 22 years (Congrats to you on 22 years Dave). Not too often these days that the brides parents are flipping the wedding bill. My wife and I were married 3 years ago after dating for 7 years, while we got nice $$$ gifts from our parents it still didnt come close to offsetting the costs of a destination wedding and then a large reception back at home. The costs of a wedding now are staggering even if you just stay at home and do the traditional church/ceremony before and reception after. Nothing wrong with popping for a stellar ring either.... that is one thing Im happy I didnt go cheap on, she loves her ring.

To the OP... Congrats

Thank you but it hasn't happened yet, so lets see if she actually goes for it.
We have had rough times lately, and I am hoping we are through the worst of it.

She is actually very practical and does not want anything that big.
We actually had the same idea you mentioned with a destination wedding, with only our parents and maybe our closest couple friends if that coming with, then have a very low key reception at home with everyone who would want to be there.
Still not cheap, but not nearly the same expense as some of these weddings/receptions I have seen in recent years.

Thanks, MVR,

Since I did not marry a US-born girl (and her father had passed before I met her), there was no parents' money to rely upon. In many other countries, it's the groom or his parents who pay for the wedding. Heck, some asian girls will expect you to give their parents $20K and leave the "burdon" of all the arrangements with them!

We did work out a great deal with the hotel by having a lunch reception instead of a dinner one. I think the tab was $12/person + an open bar for a specified period of time. It was a very nice hotel with a great view.

UPDATE- Any offer above $20k will more than likely take this home. Help me go end my life and get married!!
Also will entertain trades for something cheaper but still sporty, looking at 350z's, G35's, etc.....must book out NADA (without mileage considered) @
$10-15k tops with cash on top to me.....

Well, after getting stroked by a local buyer for a week and a half, the car is still for sale, as he backed out at literally the last second to buy another car.....through a text.
There are really a lot of people out there that have no idea what common courtesy is.....

How does this compare to a B5 S4... I have always liked the 335i from a distance.

The HPFP has scared me away a little too.... Did they ever finally get a fix?

I have not driven an S4 but I did look into them previously.
In terms of power, this would be close to if not better, especially knowing they "de tuned" these so much from the factory.
I am super happy with this car, and would definitely not be getting rid of it yet unless I needed some extra cash for the previously mentioned reasons....

As for the pumps, they have come out with updated pumps, and also they have a warranty on them all until 120k now.....
