FourFather Eddie Hill's Ariel Atom gee readings
Recently there was a road race event at Hallett Motor Raceway, near Tulsa, Oklahoma, with lots of really cool cars.
A lot of Cobra replicas, some full-on road race cars from RaceCarReplicas, even the ex-Jim Hall Pennzoil Indycar, looking brand new with full Pennzoil colors and logo-(something about that seemed somehow familiar to me), and I had my new Ariel Atom 3 demonstrator there, and we had more fun than you would believe!
My best laps were in the one minute and 21 second range, which was quicker than any other time that I was aware of, except for the Indycar. When the Indycar went out on track, I was the only one to go out with him, and actually got close enough to watch him while he was warming everything up. But when he got on it, it was way faster on the straights and in the corners, and it had a much better driver-(one of Bob Bondurant's instructors), so I did not get to watch it for very long.
I have a new Traqmate data recorder and here is some info from the weekend-
After all the work it took after every four and a half second run with my top fuel car, the fact that I can get my gee-fix in five fifteen minute sessions, for two days per weekend, and twice a month, weather permitting, and NOT HAVE TO WORK ON THE CAR!! is a real Godsend!
Huge fun!

It sure feels like it to me!
My neck was sore, after a weekend pulling those gees, for that many road racing sessions, for most of the first year I did this. But it doesn't bother my neck anymore--I've been doing it since 2007, so six years of it, has my neck in better shape, I guess--
But as long as I ran my top fuel car, It never got to the point to where my neck was NOT sore after a weekend-- from the chute hit.

This one is my 2012 Ariel Atom 3 demonstrator/company car, and it has the Honda K20A 2.0 liter engine with the Jackson Racing supercharger, with a bit over 300HP at the engine, and around 265 or so to the rear wheels.
And 1325 pounds car weight, about 1500 pounds with me in it!
I have two Atoms- Jay Leno got #1, and I bought #72, out of the first run of the American-built Atom II's, and these are Chevy LSJ 2.0 powered, like Cobalt or Saturn Sky engine/transaxle package.
I have done a MAJOR hop-up on my Chevy powered one, and am just about ready to see what it will do. It had 252 to the tires, before the engine upgrades.

Now that is a big plus.
Do you have any of the Atom's in stock there at Eddie Hills Fun Cycles? I'd love to have a better look at one.
Who knows, maybe I'd have more fun with one of those than my Vette. I never take the Vette out if the weather is bad anyway.
I had lunch today with some of the local drag racers. I don't know if those guys ever go anywhere but Pioneer for lunch. Al did not make it though. He was not feeling well again. It was a fun lunch though.

1. My original 2006 Ariel Atom II (Jay Leno took #1 and I took #72 of the first batch of Chevy Ecotec LSJ-powered ones) now with 7000+ miles of mixed street and track.
2. My new 2012 company car/demonstrator Ariel Atom 3, which has the Honda K20A 2.0 liter engine and close-ratio six-speed with limited slip diff.,with Jackson racing supercharger- a bit over 300 flywheel HP and ~265 HP to the tires- about 1325 pounds car weight.
3. One used Ariel Atom II, with an unsupercharged Honda K20A 2.0 liter engine and six-speed close ratio transaxle, with a LOT of nice upgrades.
Call my dealership, www.eddiehillsfuncycles.com, at 940-322-4121, and tell who ever answers that you want to talk to Eddie about the Ariel Atom, (so they will know you're not a telemarketer), and will put you through to me if I'm in the dealership at the time. If I'm off racing at Hallett or at Eagles Canyon Raceway in Decatur, they will give me the message and I'll call you as soon as I can.
I'll give you a free demo ride if you'll do a thread about your ride in an Ariel Atom,- here on the forum--

Eddie, you got yourself a deal.
I live in Iowa Park and I am self employed. So my time is fairly flexible, and I am just a few minutes away via the expressway. So is there a particular day that is best for you?

I met up with Eddie a few hours ago and had a good look at his Atom's. The visit alone was a real treat. The ride was awesome too. A full review (with pics) will follow.

I have three of them to see, now, and three more on order, with two of those that I have on order, pretty close to being finished-
1. My original 2006 Ariel Atom II (Jay Leno took #1 and I took #72 of the first batch of Chevy Ecotec LSJ-powered ones) now with 7000+ miles of mixed street and track.
