Friends car, he's fairly broke.

Car has slight gas smell, he claims when over 1/2 full. Ive smelled it before, its slight.

Car starts, then dies right away. This happened suddenly.
Car will start, rev up, then die, regardless of giving it gas by pressing the pedal.

Where to start?

I'll look up how to get codes manually, he cant get it to autozone.
I'll post back if i can get codes pulled.
