And it still can't beat a 2012 ZR1. Just wait until C7 ZR1 is introduced.

yeah...the early preliminary tests of the viper don't tell the whole story. That was an early pre-production car...they are faster with a good setup and proper tire.

Just anxious to see how Corvette answers...

How they answer? LOL! They answered over 4 years ago with a car that does 10.6X at over 130 MPH ALL STOCK!

Looks like a press car. Have these hit the street yet?

Great looking car.

That would easily be in the 10's if it were at a fast track like MIR. If its putting down 550+whp its definitely making the power.

I wouldn't worry about the Corvette matching it though. GM has more than enough firepower.

Yea the time is really not all that impressive. I thought the launch control at 5,500 rpm was what was pretty cool.

If it works that good on the street, it would be a cool feature.

Why did it take so many runs? What were all the other ones?

My point was the car was a turd for all the hype. You guys drove the ***** off of it and it is what it is.. 30...15.... Whatever... That car should run 10.80s if they want to step it up

not enough torque to pull through 1st gear without bogging...

I don't know about all the hype, SRT considers it a mid 11's car... and the ZR1's out there weren't doing any better that I saw....

Brook don't take it personally. Just again saying the expectation of that car was it was going to be a much faster car.

Not sure which other ZRs you where referring to that weren't running well. Ours was going high 9's and that gray one can't drive. I've seen quite a few stock ZR's , with the right driver, run 10.9x

not personal at all, while we were thinking we could get into the 10's with it, I'm just saying I don't think the car was hyped to be an easy 10 second car....

This gray one?

2nd run he matched the Viper's 60' time but still didn't run well...

This is a twin turbo or supercharged ZR1?

Just for good fair comparison sake........I ran a full day at MIR back in 2011 with DA at a best of 1000 positive to 1400 positive in the afternoon.

Even at the worst air of the day I was able to run consistant 10.8x at over 130 on almost every pass. Even cracked a 10.79@ 131 with drag times saying DA of +1250.

This was my first time out on my (at the time) new wheel and tire combo which has proven to be pretty optimal for stock ZR1's.

I would like to know the specs of the tires used on the viper?

I used a set of DR's that were too tall on the ZR1 for a while and id did hurt ET somewhat but trap speeds were all still in excess of 130, So in a mexico style race with equal drivers I do believe the ZR1 will easily prevail! so Im told the driver of that viper is pretty d@mn good, so judging from the data supplied we all know its a drivers race, but IMHO the ZR1 will edge the viper with equal drivers and conditions.

Way to go GM! Now Give us a 700 HP C7 ZR1 so I can head for the 9's all stock

the extra 90 ft-lbs of torque from the supercharger that the ZR1 has over the Viper in the mid range makes a huge difference coming off the line with the long 1st gear....

the Viper also has to shift into 4th right at the traps, making it trap a bit lower compared to the ZR1 which can stay in 3rd gear...

from a roll I think it's a drivers race to win....

ZR1 wont finish the 1/4 in 3rd with any tire!

What size DR's were you running on the Viper?

Also, the ZR1 actually has an overall taller first gear ratio than the new Viper.

For another comparison, my first ever day at the track with the ZR1 I ran a 11.05 @ 129mph (stock tires) on my 10th run with a DA of ~+400ft. I was not a very experience drag racer at the time either.

In positive DA with a great track such as PBIR/MIR I dont think the DR's on a stock car are that great of thing. You can still run High 10's pretty easy in a ZR1.

Neil you will probably recall one of our first ZR1 outings together and there were 5 stock ZR1's on stock tires and everyone of them went in the 10's

I was surprised the boys at SRT did not find a way to get their motor up to around 675 hp or above before introducing the new Viper.

They already knew how competent the ZR 1 is on both the drag strip and a racecourse. Add that to GM being due to bring out a new model I would think would have caused them to reach further into their idea box and be a little bit more creative with getting more power.

Time will tell
