I drove a "P" car yesterday.
I have a 2011 C-6 Convertible. Yesterday I had some time to kill while waiting on a friend to arrive at the airport. I stopped by the Porsche dealership in Virginia Beach and drove a 2014 Porsche Cayman. The car had a MSRP of $62,000 and was the base engine with a 6 speed manual transmission but did not have powered seats, heated seats or SAT radio. The seats were very suportive and comfortable. The steerting feel was remarkable and the car handled like a dream. Being the base engine, the car had very little low end torque. I had to keep the RPM up or the car had very little acceleration. The part that surprised me was how choppy and poorly the car rode. It seemed to bounce from the front to the rear on rough roads. I did not care for the ride quality at all.
Overall the car had a high quality but the base engine would not do. Going to the "S" modle would add $10,000 to the MSRP. Overall I felt I would have to spend at least $70,000 to get the options I feel are necessary. The dealer wanted MSRP + a $700 documentation fee.
Nice car but at a high cost. I will keep my C-6.

I got a ride in this GT3, long story short my buddy paid over 80k for it used and it didn't match my vette's torque however it will smoke my vette in the corners unless I upgrade the suspension...not worth the money in my opinion and I LOVE PORSCHES...

you have to remember that cayman is among the cheapest mid-engined cars out there. The base car only has a 2.7l engine but supposed to manage 0-60 in just 5.1 sec. My mazda 5 has a 2.5l engine and gets from 0-60 in 10 sec.

The Mitsubishi Lancer Raliart has a 2.4 liter engine and does 0-60 in 5.4 seconds. It costs about $27,000.

My only real hangup with Porsche is how they look SO friggin similar from the ones that came out 30 years ago. The general shape has just changed so little...especially up until the late 90s.
Well, that and the lack of low down grunt. I hate having to wind a car up to the top 70+% of the power band to have any real punch. Had an RX-8 previously, and wow...NOTHING before about 5-6k.

I love to pick on the back-motored p-car guys. They don't like me at all, for more than one reason. I can out run most, up to 170, then I run out of gearing. Really need to swap the 5-speed turbo tranny for a 6-speed.
And, they all think I bastardized the car.

Crap on a Porsche for that much loot with that kind of performance. Just sayin...
