I Posted the link above, I am just upset that they did not make it. I wanted to see how it stacked up, The GTR should take it with the cars listed. The past two years it finished 2nd and 3rd I think? We will see how the New Viper pans out also.

It's too bad... the guy who did the "first drive" review seemed to suggest that having the C7 after they did this comparison gave him the opinion it was very favourably and his comments about it being a "bummer" suggests he thought it would have surprised a few people.

You betch'um that GM couldn't find a car. GM has been building C7's for the past three months and not a single one could be diverted from the captured test fleet for a comparison? I bet there are some 150-200 C7's running around, with production VIN's. They don't build experimental mules and then let secretaries drive them around for comprehensive testing.

Funny they were able to find some C7's for other rags to test. Maybe it was because those ''tests" could be limited in scope by GM, thus the "results" would be limited.

Of course they are controlling the car at this point. That does NOT mean they are worried about the results but that marketing is controlling how and when the message gets released.

They could be VERY confident it would win or place very high but, on the off chance it didn't for whatever reason (these tests are somewhat subjective and early release cars may be less reliable or may not be consistent yet) and that would be negative this early... therefore, they mitigate any possible risk even if they believe it wouldn't happen. I would do the same if I were them.

its going to be close the preproduction viper lapped leguna in 1:35.77 Last years GTR lapped it in 1:36.53. I drove a 14 track pack at Circuit of the Americas and it was very similar so not sure It will make up all that time.

but its got the drag race im pretty sure only comp is the SLS Black

The C7 have been interesting in both events. it would be hopefully midpack at leguna and at the drag race since motortrend had already tested all the cars there was a handful all in the 12.1 range so the C7 would have been battling towards the rear neck and neck with the Ftype the M6 the 991 and a few others

GM claims the C7 is as good as the C6 Z06. If that's so, why wait for another model to compare. Are they ashamed of what a C6 Z06(ie:C7) can do in a shootout?

That's a tough group of cars. I'd also be nervous if I was GM.

You don't even have your delievered yet and it loses to a 911, Cayman, F-Type, SLS Black Series, R8, and GT-R. That would be tough, even if most of those cars are much more expensive.

In a test like this, even if the cars were very close, you could still finish 7th in a very good car (not that I think it would finish there, just that given the competition, it is a definite possibility). Not what you want when the 911 and Cayman end up in first and second place and you just spent all this time bench-marking the winner but still ended up far down the list (again just speaking hypothetically).

Of course if the C7 could have won it would have looked REALLY good!

I remember when I missed that big test and I told the teacher the next day that I would have aced it if I hadn't been on my deathbed at home the day of the test. She bought it hook, line, and sinker and went ahead and gave me an A. LOL.

These test drives come down to the opinion of the drivers. At this point in time, as the C7 is just getting getting out of the gate. GM probably felt like it had nothing really to gain but a lot to lose by participating. No one takes these comparisons too seriously. I remember reading a few years back that the Miata or boxster was voted best drivers car by these "experts."

Corvette never really gets a fair shake for whatever reason. Since the C5, I have been incredibly impressed with corvette fuel economy relative to the HP they make. Only now, with the C7, am I starting to hear the same sentiments from car mag publications. C5 and C6 never got the props it deserved as the engineering marvel it was.

Bottom-line: These car mag experts/reviews hold no water with me....oh by the way, is that a station wagon I see in the video? Craziness.

No big deal. I think the only people who will be offended are secretaries everywhere.

Ralph Gilles must be pretty pissed right now. I'm looking forward to a C7 Z06 to take on the competition next year.
