Unfortunately, I think that's becoming the norm, as even cars that are considered basic, these days, are pretty complicated. Compound that by all the added gizmos and electronics of an "upscale" model, and you have the recipe for a financial nightmare, especially in the NE, where I live, with road salt being used in the winter.

I would recommend looking at the Cayenne Diesel. More than enough go, handles really well especially when you consider the weight. Quiet. No diesel noise or smell. 34+ mpg.
Also, The Q5 is not the same size as the Cayenne or Toureg. The Q5 is smaller and is the platform the Porsche Macan is based on.
The porsche dealer can tell you what your maintenance cost will be up front. You can even pre purchase it and save about 15-20% of the cost.
