Should I jump on the chance for a Hellcat at MSRP or wait for Z06 to be discounted? I think the Hellcat will hold its value a lot longer than the Z06 will, but have never owned a Dodge product and have been a vette guy my entire adult life. I haven't seen a Hellcat in person, but my buddy just picked his up Saturday and sent me pics of the exterior is awesome. What would you guys do?

Buy the Hellcat. If you don't like it, you probably won't go into bankruptcy. I'm interested in getting the opinion of a vette owner...

Buy the ZO6 and forget about the Hellcat. Over hyped piece of junk. The Vette will eat it for lunch and spit it out. Dodge sucks. Sorry to be so negative but I really do not see any positives with the Hellcat. The Vette is a thing of beauty. Don't even wait for the price to drop it's really not bad. BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK

One is a two seat super car.....the other is a 4 or 5 seater.
Both great choices....
Buy the one works for you.

Either car will have more power than most people will take advantage of. I think it comes down to what you plan to use the car for. Boulevard bruiser/grocery getter: get the hellcat; world class sports car that will dominate on the track: get the ZO6! I saw both the Challenger and Charger hellcat at SEMA and both are nice looking cars. The interior was very nice and seemed to be loaded with options.

OP - do you want a pony car or a sports car.
Once you decide that, the choice either way will be obvious.

The fact that you even have to ask leans me to say go for the other car. I mean talk about apples and oranges, Filet Mignon and Top Sirloin! Megan Fox and Rosie Odonnel.....I can go on forever lol. The Corvette is in a much higher league no matter if that other car comes with 1,000 HP. But hey get what you want.

The only way the Hellcat holds it's value better than the Vett will be if they limit production quite a bit. It's not like the Viper that has limited production capability. They will most likely pump out all the Hellcats they can sell.
Also, you could wait for the Z06 to be discounted, but don't be surprised if it doesn't even cover the first price increase. It's not uncommon to put out the intro price a bit on the low side, only to follow it up with an early increase (Similar to the $3200 bump on C7 Z51's mid year 2014).
In either case they are a poor investment. Get what you like and enjoy it (since your buddy has a Hellcat I'd get the Z06 just so you can blow him away in any contest of speed).

both are cars to be made in volume, neither will hold it's value...........don't fall for the 'Shelby' type b.s., look at it, in it's 8th year of production and values to show it.

I made an error in assuming they were only making a limited number of them, but after doing some research see they have no set limit, so that does change my thinking. Still would be nice to have a car that the whole family could go for a cruise in on a nice day.

Did you sell your ZR1? If your trading it for a Hellcat I think your crazy. Keep the ZR1 and let the ZO6 depreciate, and then pick a ZO6 up.
Better yet, keep the ZR1 because it's already better looking then the ZO6 coming out. Like the new car, but it looks kinda cheesy with all the angles and aero crap, almost like a after thought

I'm actually in the same boat. I love both cars, both seem awesome, I feel the Z is sexier and is going to be far less seen but also comes with the heavy extra cost. I was leaning towards the challenger because of 2 more seats and trunk, but after thinking about it for the 2 years I've owned my V coupe I rarely (maybe 8-10 times) use my back seat or need the trunk space. I just need room for like 3 or 4 grocery bags! I have a daily use work truck and suv so I don't really need additional space. And like others I'll probably want more power and dodge basically locks out the challenger so I don't see much more power available where as the Z is going to be making 750+ hp within a month or too! My gut says do it get the Z!!
