Nice Viper win again. Just shows again the trap speeds from the stock Vipers are legit. Both cars are smokin' fast for what little is going into them.

As for immediatly crowning the Z as the road course champ, if I were a Vette guy I would wait for more data to come out so I didn't have to pull my foot out of my mouth a second time.

That still leaves over 3 seconds for the Viper to make up.

Remember Ralph called Randy scared of Vipers too, but SRT didn't offer up anyone else to drive the car. The TA still hasn't beaten the ZR1 in a same day track test. Took a private test day to barely eek out the ZR1 at Laguna. In my book, that's slower given mag drivers only get a few laps, and Randy with more laps and a race team supporting the ZR1 would have been faster too.

It's bench racing no doubt, but educated bench racing.
I'm not disagreeing with you, but just with a better driver 5+ seconds and the better tires 3+ seconds, you are talking a massive 8 seconds right there.

The Viper owns the Laguna Seca track record over the ZR1, on worse tires to boot. What happened when they put cup tires IE ZR1's tires on the Viper? Massive 2.5 second lap time drop (great Video with Pobst):

Not discounting the Z07's wicked prowess on the track, but I think the TA 2.0 Viper will be more competition than most think.

Cool run.

I'm still not getting a Viper either.

Glad it's around, tho; it's a cool car.

I keep forgetting to jump on Viper and Porsche forums and extol the virtues of the Corvette, and do so with an imperious tone to boot. Don't know what's wrong with me.

The Viper and Porsche forums are pretty slow/boring. Come on over.

Anyone know what these two cars run at the dragstrip? I'm not debating which one is faster in this exhibition of acceleration... that is obvious by the results in the videos, unless you keep your eyes closed and flip a coin instead.

I would hope 660rwhp in a Z06 in winter air = 136+mph through the traps, which equates to mid-10s on street tires, or low, low-10s on race rubber.

Anything less is just... sad.

I appreciate mature discussion that doesn't dissolve into insults. I like to debate.

Three seconds is a big guesstimate. Like I said less than that to Pirelli slicks at Laguna. I might give you 2 seconds if that at VIR.

The Viper had an independent test day, notice the the GTS picked up 1.5 seconds from the same day test with the ZR1 to the private test with SRT. Those are not equal testing grounds.

What happens with GM and a private test and calling out Randy Pobst?

That goes both ways.

I do agree, that the 2.0 will be serious competition. I think SRT will want to return the favor on the Z07's release by putting spoiling the Z06's track intro. If the TA 2.0 comes out with Trofeo R or MPSC, it's going to be a serious battle. I love both cars for different reasons, so I just like the competition.

What does your car trap @ 1/4 with "607" rwhp?

Both cars are nice and fast as hell. Id still take the vet over ten vipers. With that said am I the only one that seen the z06 slowly start to creep back towards then end of the second and third races right before the viper let off?

I've not been able to make a complete pass. Only tried it once and it spun bad in first the started wheel hopping in second and got off the gas.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) I confirmed my TA 2.0 on order is coming with the Corsa's. Worse track tire, but better street tire IMO. I think Dodge would only put Trofeo R's on the 2016 ACR if they decide to release it. I think with those tires and the new GEN V ACR would be dipping into the high 6 minutes at the 'ring. Would be so epic. I can't wait to see the Z07 'ring times eventually.

So we have no way of knowing how much power it makes. I guess the same goes for the Z06.

Figures...

Dynojet vs Mustang Dyno... Lets see. over 50whp difference between the two cars. Thats about 100 at the crank isn't it? I'm somewhat having hard time believing a Viper with 100hp less will pull Zip Codes on a Z06. Thats all.

For which one is the better track road course car. The true test will be at the benchmark tracks. Nurburgring or Laguna Seca.
