Default Cycle World 1-180 tests

Before guys jump on me and call me a hater........I own a 2016 A8 and I am a lover of the Z. Anyway, I just got the new issue of CW and it ran a few bikes , a McLaren P1 and a ZO6 (not ZO7) from 0-180 mph. The bikes and the P1 ran in the 15-20 sec. range, while the Z used 57 seconds!!! The M7 revved out at 179 in 5th, so they had to go into 6th gear. (0-60 in 3.7, 12.1 @121 quarter, 0-100 in 8.7)) Wait till the trolls and haters get a hold of this info!

Something doesn't add up.

mathematically, the C7 Z06 with it's 335/25-20 rear tires, it's .82:1 5th gear and it's 3.42:1 rear gear, it should hit 183.4 MPH at 6500 RPM, not 179.

Since the fuel cutoff isn't until 6600 RPM(186.2 MPH) then the Z06 should be able to hit 180 MPH in 5th gear during the 0-180 tests, without shifting into 6th gear at 179.

The C6 ZR1 with less horsepower and torque is able to use 6th gear to hit 205 MPH. Appears that the C7 Z06 just runs out of steam instead of RPM trying to hit speeds above 179 MPH.

Those are not Z numbers they subbed a C7. You trolls bring threads like this in.

Even if it was a Stingray, instead of a Z06, the numbers don't add up. Talking about a Stingray with the M7 transmission.

A base Stingray hits 179 MPH in 5th gear at 5700 RPM. It runs out of horsepower long before it has to shift into 6th gear(as the article claims) at 6500 RPM(204 MPH LOL) because it has "reved out". 5700 RPM is not "reved out".

The Z51 is only turning 5475 RPM at 179 MPH in 5th gear, a long ways from hitting the 6600 RPM rev limiter.

No C7 Stingray can hit the rev limiter in 5th gear. They run out of horsepower(460) to over come the crappy aerodynamics long before that. No C7 Stingray revs out at 179 MPH in 5th gear and then has to shift into 6th on order to hit 180 MPH.

The C6 LS2 with only 400 HP can hit 186 MPH and the C6 LS3 with 436 HP can hit 190 MPH in 5th gear, with the same transmissions(less the 7thgear).
