Default Pre-purchase inspection cost for classic - $1000?

I want to get an inspection of a 1969 Bonneville Convertible (nothing fancy) in Russells Point, Ohio, but I'm getting some wild prices.

To wit:

"Cost would be $825 + $250 numbers matching service....$1075. Appraisal can be added for an additional $75."

So $1150. Sounds thorough enough, but I'm not buying a Hemi Cuda here. Is this par for the course on inspections now, or how do I go about finding someone knowledgeable who'll charge me a couple of hundred bucks an hour (only)?

$1150 seems like a lot of the afternoon, unless it's one of Delorean's kids.

Or am I just out of touch? If not, any recommendations in the area?

Try these guys first to get some factory specs on your car.

I've already done the PHS documentation on the car so I know exactly how it was built; I now need to find out unmolested it is or not...
